It's probably unnecessary to point this out here, but this article is *explicitly* describing a plan to stop legal voters from voting -- people with intellectual and mental disabilities still have every legal right to vote (unless they've been formally ruled incompetent by a court, which typically doesn't occur because it costs money).

Personally, I can squint and turn my head to one side and see a case for blaming Obamacare if Hillary loses (which is almost certainly not gonna happen at this point, but this is for the sake of argument). Basically, if Trump wins, a big part of that will be because self-identifying Republicans, who vacillated on supporting him for the past 5 months, finally say "ah, gently caress it", and vote for him despite his manifest unfitness for office. And, if that happens, it will be because Trump, in the past few weeks (and especially in the third debate) has focused on typical Republican punching bags like abortion, guns, and, most recently, Obamacare. The more that's in the news, instead of Trump litigating his sexual predation, the more your average white college degree-holder is gonna be able to hold their nose and vote (R) like they've done in the past however many elections.

Do I think that's likely to actually give the election to Trump? No. But it does explain why some of the polls are looking closer to C+6 than C+9 like they were last week.

Dilbert tower isn't real. It's a cgi mockup from the early 2000s for Dilbert's Ultimate House. He took suggestions for how readers would over-engineer their houses given the opportunity, and somebody mocked up the suggestions that people liked. Stuff like waterproof everything in the bathroom and have a drain in the middle of the floor so you could just hose it down, or a revolving wall to hide your Christmas tree behind the rest of the year. I thought it was cool reading in middle school. It was a follow up to similar thing he did where they improved cubicles.

They're still fluctuating around +6, +9, and higher. It's really telling that the Trump Camp's big surprise plan is to try to suppress the vote.

So, talked to my lifelong Republican small business worker, manager, and now part owner dad and (i just learned this this weekend) former hardcore Democrat turned decently racist conservative mother this weekend (when talking about inequalities in minority communities, she completely understood the inequalities and even was agreeing and filling in more. She just doesn't give a poo poo and thinks everyone should bootstrap themselves like she did).

My dad is resigned to "well, everything's still gonna be around in 8 years, it probably won't be that bad." (Emphasis mine, although I made a big deal out of that admission and he clarified that he really did mean 8 years - he doesn't see how they recover from this in 4 years enough to win against an incumbent). They're probably voting mcmuffin, but it doesn't matter anyway since they vote in CA.

Polling officials generally have the authority to deal with these sorts of people already. They call the police and the person gets removed. In the state of Georgia at least it's a misdemeanor for a police officer to fail to maintain order at a polling location so if the polling official says to get them out of here there's no debate, they're gone.
