It's probably unnecessary to point this out here, but this article is *explicitly* describing a plan to stop legal voters from voting -- people with intellectual and mental disabilities still have every legal right to vote (unless they've been formally ruled incompetent by a court, which typically doesn't occur because it costs money).

And which is a strange target for them to get hung up on if they want Trump to win - families with disabled members are not any likelier to vote liberal than conservative, and in my limited anecdotal experience it tends to lean to the latter. Oh well, can't wait for the headline "REPUBLICAN 'POLL WATCHER' ASSAULTED DISABLED VETERAN"

Huh, props for McMullin, I guess. I may disagree with every policy opinion he has to offer, but that was an incredibly hostile interview but he still managed to state his views in an orderly and civilized manner. I guess those MSNBC people really don't like him. BUT BREXIT!!
CNBC, which is always weirdly hostile for some reason. I think their shtick is to act (or be) like "outta my way, I've got important business!" rich-rear end in a top hat Wall Street types. And here's a friendly Mormon from the Mountain West (and an ex-CIA field agent) who makes them look like fools with a smile on his face.

I like McMullin. I disagree with him on most issues too, but those are simply differences of opinion; where with Trump, having a *debate* at all is irrelevant.

I don't think he's relying on an organized effort, he's trying to encourage his racist followers to take matters into their own hands, which, while admittedly likely to vary immensely in quality and effectiveness, has the potential to be extremely dangerous, in addition to being immoral and disgusting.

Polling officials generally have the authority to deal with these sorts of people already. They call the police and the person gets removed. In the state of Georgia at least it's a misdemeanor for a police officer to fail to maintain order at a polling location so if the polling official says to get them out of here there's no debate, they're gone.

Yeah but then I couldn't be a cool roving vigilante protecting the American right to democracy.

You are correct. Obama has stated several times that he wants to give the IPAB a lot more power. Right now the population deemed to have little worth is the elderly. The next population will be the handicapped. Mark my words, this will happen before the end of Obama's term. Pray for impeachment.

My guess is that people see minority caregivers taking disabled people to the polls and assume it's all a Democrat scam. For a lot of people any minority = assumed Democrat.

Yeah, it's this. If you read a lot of dumb conservative clickbait about this stuff it's the disabled guy going 'i asked my caregiver to help me vote for obama and he drove me out there and told me how to vote and on the way back he taught me some of the obama slogans'

disabled people have no autonomy in their eyes, so clearly that guy's caregiver took advantage of him.

Maybe you shouldn't be using expression 'loving retard' even sarcastically while discussing mental disabilities lest we spin off-topic for another couple of pages?

Anyway - I don't really know if it's true that they lean toward D or not, but people are completely capable of voting against their self-interests especially if there's peer pressure. I would have thought that US conservatives would at least believe that they have the majority of disabled people in their basket because Jesus guides them to do the right thing or whatever.
