A prank is something that results in a briefly embarrassing situation or dumping water on another person and silly poo poo like that. This was full out malicious tampering of someone's future. In short:Pick posted:Murder him.

It's 100% about him and the proper response is to tell him to go get hosed until he can come up with $40,000.

Afaik, the making amends step is supposed to be about showing people that you know you were bad before, and want to change. This guy is using it to be all "hey, I did a bad thing, love me."

That one reminds me of an E/N thread here, "mistake from my past coming back to haunt me". His "mistake" was planting drugs in another kids bag "as a joke", that kid getting arrested, expelled, and sent to jail. It was haunting him because that kid was a family friend of his fiancee and poo poo talked him to them, rightfully. He didn't feel any remorse until it affected him, he was so blase about it.

I mean if she's now got a decent job on the back of her own hard work paying for herself through education then perhaps this is a moral roadblock that she needs to get over it's 20,000 who cares (assuming she actually did get an ok job) she can move on, leave the ball in his court to make amends murder him or whatever that's cool too

The correct move is probably to cut contact and not retaliate, but if someone pulled something of that scale on me I would definitely be tempted, like loving with his sobriety as a previous poster mentioned.

beat him or hire someone to beat him until $45,000.00 + interest falls out, dump a bottle of cheap whiskey down his throat, do not accept his apology. Tell him you're pranking him while he has to have an entire fifth of jack daniels pumped out of his stomach.

Danaru posted:I don't know which is worse, the fact that the brother considers that a prank, or that he considers it not a big deal When given the choice between trivializing or serious introspection and self-criticism, a lot of people choose the former. If he had not personally done this he would consider it a big deal. The prank part he doesn't even believe himself.

Danaru posted:I don't know which is worse, the fact that the brother considers that a prank, or that he considers it not a big deal The thing you have to realize here is that the OP is a decent human being. His brother did this hosed up and awful thing and he is justifiably upset but his concern is in how he can help keep the relationship and continue to support his piece of poo poo brother who is trying to recover from alcoholism. The level of sheer decency just makes me even more angry for his sake. He genuinely cares for his brother and his brother doesn't loving deserve it. He is viewing this as a prank because to see it as anything more than that would mean acknowledging his poo poo brother and reacting appropriately. () Something he does not want to do because he is a good person. A+ cognitive dissonance. Redditors are gonna tell him to cut him off and he's not going to listen. His devotion and consideration of this scum is a reflection of him. If he does what he should he's a "bad person" for abandoning his brother. He only wants advice for how to deal with this and it's the only advice he'll consider. Sigh, poor guy.

At least when dumb people know they're being dumb it's a bit better. I [36/f] lost my temper with my husband [36/M] because he is my family's doctor. Not sure why I did it. quote:This is just a throwaway account. Anyway, I have been married to “Ron” for over a decade. We have a great marriage, four beautiful children and a great home. My husband is a physician, a specialist in Emergency Medicine who has worked at a regional trauma center for the last 8 years. My husband has been scaling back and has opened a clinic where he sees patients for routine physicals and very minor procedures (a family practice). This has meant that my husband is around more and gets to meet patients who aren’t necessarily flat on their back. He will work in the ER for another two years and will fully transition into a family practice during that time. After that, he’ll do enough shifts in the ER to keep-up his certifications as a physician and advanced life support/resuscitation. I like that he’ll be home more and have better more regular hours. Though I don't know why "I'm sorry Ron, I'm adjusting to this new role and I lost my temper for no good goddamn reason. What can I do to make it up to you?" isn't the answer here....
