(AP) - Oakland and Alameda County leaders will vote Tuesday on a financial and development plan to build a $1.3 billion football stadium at the Coliseum site to keep the Raiders from moving to Las Vegas. I assume this will get the same reaction as the previous story, which was the Lott group wants a percentage of the team, so it doesn't mean much.

The NHL arguably needs to contract and they just expanded to Vegas. Maybe SAN Diego could steal the Coyotes? But again, where would they play? The old hockey-capable sports arena we've already got, at least initially.

I am of the opinion that the gulls coming back was a market test for an actual pro team. I have no backup for this but it is my hunch. I am probably just dreaming, but I miss going to Kings games (haters vacate) and gulls games only fill part of that void

NHL is really only open to the last team in Seattle, Portland, Toronto, or Quebec City. They brought the Gulls back because VVC Center is under utilized and the team always made money and should never have left.

Telesco has brought a lot of good pieces here, and who knows what happens if we aren't the most injured team in the league the last two years. The major gaffe so far is Mike McCoy, but everyone gets a mulligan

The younger Spanoses were born and raised in San Diego and have done everything but flat out say that they want to stay, which they won't do because Dean is still the main guy. Everything they've done in the community to try and get a stadium built, the charity work and appearances they've made while Dean is being a total recluse is pretty telling.

Is half of LA really a more valuable market than all of SD? I think that "half" is a bit generous, since the Chargers have to actively win over new fans, while competing with the Rams and whatever other teams LA football fans root for now. Doing that without winning will be tough, especially since they may be playing in a tiny soccer stadium with facilities that are worse than many college teams. This may also be bad for the NFL in general, since San Diego fans won't root for the Chargers and may stop watching football altogether. If this move reduces the total number of fans doing things like watching games on TV and buying branded merchandise then the NFL may have reason to block it.

Just because they liked the idea a year ago doesn't mean that they haven't changed their minds in the last 12 months. The Rams awful attendance, the Raiders recent successes, and the Chargers being wholly uncompetitive are all relevant factors in the question of Can/Will LA Support The Chargers?
