I love the stuff that changes with patches. That whole sequence of events from what is now the opening cutscene to 2.0 is really awesome. Looking at the comments though (shame on me, I know), how are there people that prefer 1.x to what we have now? And why do people say Heavensward is a disappointment?

Go in to documents/my games/final fantasy xiv - a realm reborn/ and open FFXIV_BOOT.cfg with notepad or whatever text document program you like, look for BootVersionCheckMode and change the zero to a one. Run the launcher and it'll kick you the mismatch error one more time, but it'll restart itself and start downloading things.

(So do the PR departments, who are really obsessive about revealing information at specific times.) Yeah. And I guess FFXIV doesn't really have a "Beta Testing" phase as open as Blizzard's, which is where most of the datamined stuff comes from. It's just kind of different is all, since U.S. companies usually use new classes/races/etc as a major marketing tool to build hype and thus usually announce those kind of things at the same time as the expansion announcement that brings them. I'm not complaining or anything. It's kind of nice having surprises again. It's just a bit of an adjustment to get used to. do we know the stats/substats on the garo gear? also, pvp gear is now a relatively sane way to catch up on gear ilvl, if you're several patches behind. even queueing once a day for frontlines and losing, it will take 18 days for left side+weapons and only another five for right-side. winning your matches would cut this in half, and doing just an additional match a day will give you an extra 600-1000 marks a day.
