This is the best thing that WH40K generated: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Gideon_Ravenor A guy who's abilities border on both omnipotent and omnipresent who permanently lives in a weird, sealed, floating wheelchair made by space elves because someone dropped a plane on him.

Also, Oculus was found innocent of stealing trade secrets from ZeniMax. The other side wanted up to 6 billion $. Looks like some greedy assholes trying to get a nice payout. And since Oculus is appealing, they still won't be seeing the money for years to come.

They actually had one of the major developers for oculus, that used to work for Zenimax (Carmack) admit that he took code he was working while at zenimax and used it on the oculus SDK. Part of the 500m that was awarded was based on that copyright infringement. Its cool, Oculus and most of the people working there are trash anyways

That and the fact that it was when my first blog went live in July 2015, and the media [shockingly] made it headlines, that the drama really took off. Naturally, the CIG response to it was what set the tone for the revelation of just how hosed up things truly were at CIG. Then The Escapist happened. And suddenly, the emperor was running around butt nekid; before eventually settling down to write an 8hr long diatribe which did even more harm. Make no mistake, it's a massive scam and they're never - ever - going to recover from what's now been set in motion.

I'm keeping an eye on that early access game (Eternal Crusade, found it) that's looking to do large scale multiplayer Space Marine, I'm hoping they can get that working nicely.

That's kind of how it works when you are charging money for things, you do it properly. Well buster. I got some bad news for you. CIG not only knows all of your online aliases, and your name, but Chris Roberts just had one of his guys fill out a resume in your honor just so he can tear it up and throw it away. DapperDon posted:gently caress it. I am finally going to ask after all these years. What is WH40K about? It is the 41st millennium. For more than a hundred centuries the Emperor has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the master of mankind by the will of the gods, and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the Imperium for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day, so that he may never truly die. Yet even in his deathless state, the Emperor continues his eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor’s will. Vast armies give battle in his name on uncounted worlds. Greatest amongst His soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors. Their comrades in arms are legion: the Imperial Guard and countless planetary defence forces, the ever-vigilant Inquisition and the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from aliens, heretics, mutants - and worse. To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruellest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be re-learned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.

Its a setting for crazy miniature games, all the novels dilute it to tell overly serious stories that don't capture much of its appeal and are mostly complete poo poo.

https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3494493 As the title says, start with Eisenhorn. If you enjoy it, then after that trilogy I'd say try the Night Lords trilogy by Aaron Dembski-Bowden. Eisenhorn is an Imperial Inquisitor doing Inquistiony things and is quite a good intro to the setting. The Night Lords are traitor space marines who are inhuman monsters. He is basically Hero of the Imperium, but against his will. He brings back the silliness this dour universe was solely missing. Just for god's sake don't read all the novels in one sitting. (Because they're all styled in the same pattern and reading them back-to-back makes this really obvious.)
