You Am I posted:I had forgotten about the Apex Gang. The Vic Police have told the media time and again that it doesn't exist, yet the Hun still posts front page stories about it. The Age aren't much better, they have headlines like Apex gang members deported and A Fatal Blow to the Apex gang? then somewhere in the article have a quote from the Police that is basically like "It's not a gang it's just a name" or "The Apex gang doesn't exist" but continue to write the article like its a Mafia organisation instead of kids adopting an Anonymous-esque social media label. If you only scan headlines and chat to people it can seem like a (legitimate) big deal.

Guys, guys, they're also black so please don't forget about that when you tabulate the current apex threat level. There was a good article recently about a Lebanese prostitute mum operating as the handler for apex gang missions from her Dandenong home or something to that effect.

Eric Abetz Claims Queen Elizabeth is respected not because of intrinsic factors beyond her control but hard work. (ignores the fact that if George-6 had ever had a son her hard work wouldn't mean poo poo) Uses International Women's day to deride women seeking equal opportunity as demanding they get things because of their sex as though we already live in a meritocracy. Cool stuff

The proposed changes included other similar blanket bans for other substances, such as a ban on any and all plants containing Mescaline or Ephedrine. The proposal was not pursued after political embarrassment on realisation that this would make the official Floral Emblem of Australia, Acacia pycnantha (Golden Wattle), illegal.

Bogan King posted:^ i thought we already had analogue laws that would cover this sort of stuff. gay picnic defence posted:wouldn't be the first time we tried to ban something with unintended consequences It's real hard to make laws about this stuff because 'drugs' is not a meaningful scientific category, only a social one. Analogue laws don't work because manufacturers come up with new, unrelated drugs in response to bans (ironically meaning legal highs are getting more dangerous). Effects-based laws work if you ignore the million obvious holes, e.g. perfume, flowers, petrol. New Zealand gave up trying to legislate against new drugs for a while and made them legal, but there was a backlash and they neutered the law: http://volteface.me/features/what-ever-happened-to-new-zealands-much-hailed-drug-regulation/ lua fucked around with this message at 11:31 on Mar 8, 2017 |

This country is so hosed. ABC radio this morning runs a piece on AEMO forecasting a gas shortage and immediately blames government bans on fracking, raises South Australia as an example of what will happen if we dont expand gas production or import capacity, no mention our pathetic export agreements/contracts or how energy companies gaming the market by withholding supply, followed by an interview with josh frydenberg at which point I immediately turned off. If labor loses the next federal election I am loving out of this country

Good news everyone. AEMO predicting power cuts and gas shortages next yearquote:Mr Cleary said hard choices could confront Australia unless there was new gas production. I have full confidence in the LNP and the Turnball regime that they will do nothing and none of the gas being sold overseas will not be directed for internally - that would hurt *profits* for overseas companies and we can't have that. This is actually pretty scary. Any one of us could either have no power, or no gas, or both.

Unlike every other country on the planet, Australia does not reserve any of it's own natural gas for itself. Barnett wants to encourage other States to sell their gas overseas. So, Australia is going to end up *importing* it.
