Ok, I can't get the image I have to load onto imgur but if I could you would see the RSI funding graph showing $190 of pledge money for the hour '6' - at that level, they could make more money that hour by using a few of their staff and the coffee machine to sell drinks on the street ..... being CIG thought, I don't know if I would risk getting a hot drink from them, I don't think even the best spill lid would be able to deal with the kentic energy in the cup when you shuddely snap into a T-pose. (or any of the many other problems that only CIG could encounter in the hot drink business)

Most of the income is from sales, the daily figures between sales are very important but it's the sales that generate hype, break number records and hence drive the daily figure. Even assuming they inflate the figure from other income sources, for years they have been very careful not to let the daily drift below 30k (it used to be 20k), I assume because backers will notice which will raise doubts and impact funding. This keeps Karl and whales like him content. Karl thinks funding will decline slowly, that's not how bubbles work. Assuming no decent playable content, which there never will be in my opinion, CIG are always one bad sale away from a funding crisis.

It's a bit paradoxical really. CIG is still in need of a heap more cash (maybe a couple of hundred million) be it from crowd funding, investors or loans to finish this project (SC/SQ42). For all the people, time and money they have had to now, they have relatively little to show for it. The project has been plagued by poor management and mis-management from the start. Big part of the problem was scoop creep, which, along with the poor management was due to the initial funding success. The more money they got, the even more money they need. It's not like no one ever pointed this out. It's just amazing how like AP says, all it will take is that one sale that they only get $400k when they where expecting $1.2 million and all the cards will come down. While I don't think Chris will ever see space court over this, with his misuse of funds, deceptive practices and general mismanagement, it would be nice to think he will have to answer to, and be judged one day.

I can only hope Roberts at least faces the same and more once Scam Citizen collapses (or releases as an unfinished shitshow, really like Godus I guess). Because you have to be a special kind of incompetent to waste close to 150 million on a video game, on top of a massive liar for managing to keep people spending for so long.

One major difference is that CR has actually tried to meet his ludicrous promises where as Godus was just a cynical pack of lies propping up an extremely lovely clicking minigame. When Star Citizen collapses it'll be because an idiot thought he was smarter than everyone else and over-reached really really badly. I don't know how it'll be reported but I don't think it'll be too harsh. I expect to see lots of articles about "lessons learnt from the Star Citizen failure" and not so many "Check out this dumb rear end in a top hat and the millions of dollars of other people's money he wasted". We'll see. rear end posting on your mobile is the best posting.

The lesson learnt from Star Citizen will be "if you exploit a legal grey area to blatantly lie to desperate people with poor impulse control you can earn millions." I think televangelists beat Chris to the punch on this by decades though. As always, he's so far behind the pack he thinks he's in the front.

Nope, a lot of people told you Citizens were entitled to refunds as CIG weren't keeping to their part of the contract/agreement, release dates etc. You argued for pages how the CIG terms of service was cast iron and people couldn't get refunds, then people tested CIG on refunds by pushing it to the stage when a court might actually get to rule on it and suddenly CIG is refunding everyone who asks. Don't let me stop you though if you are going to fight this legal battle again, last time was hilarious, love your work, big fan.
