In nuBatB's defence, maybe what they are going for is to give Beast more of a clear character arc, to have him be more of an arsehole at the start. We don't necessarily know enough of how that scene actually turns out.

I think they had to change the kind of rear end in a top hat he was because animated Beast's behavior now causes incessant lovely clickbait articles about how gaston was better

I actually prefered Cinderella's dress when I was a kid. In fact, my first picture I ever drew was of her in her blue gown.
