DrNutt posted:You are conflating two different things. I expect to get fetch quests because it's an RPG. What I don't expect is everyone squirting at me and begging to suck my dick because I'm the PATHFINDER. It's a completely stupid turn of events and holy poo poo if you think out of 100,000 people specially selected for the initiative there might be a few people who know what they're doing. Instead, you find the Nexus and it's got the lights off and everyone sitting around with their thumbs in their asses waiting for the magical player character to teach them how to tie their shoes. But not really, though? The Nexus has its lights off because they're running out of power and now they can siphon some from the Hyperion. That one engineer who is doing the sabotage investigations wants your help because you're a neutral party. That turian lady who wants to exonerate her husband needs your help because she's got no one else to turn to. Those are only two sidequests, I'm not sure how the rest are, but they don't really seem like you're making it out to be. Sure some people harp on about the fact you're the Pathfinder, but to them, the Pathfinder is the guy that will help them get on a planet and build a home. After a couple years marooned on a spaceship that's running out of food, you'd latch on to any fucker with a badge, too.

I don't the mind the idea of playing a character that is a pretender so to speak. One of the things I like about the writing in the early part of the game is that while a lot of the people who don't know how you became pathfinder treat you like a hero Addison and Tann, who know the whole story, straight up call you on your poo poo. Hopefully they actually do something with that over the course of the game. However, they really needed to do a better job establishing what a pathfinder means.

Andromeda so far is people laughing at what's there but still buying and rolling with it, some even liking it. If it gets even worse and the ending is like tied behind season pass bullshit though? Oh man, there is a good chance this could be worse than the ME3 ending slapfight.

I mean a deliberate TO BE REVEALED cliffhanger after you get near the final boss or someshit in the vanilla game. Having a real ending, satisfying or otherwise and then pulling out several extra campagins until you throw out a Trespasser is fine. Because there's no ARTISTIC VISION bullshit defense to piecemeal the real or true end of the game just to sell a Season Pass. Like a cliffhanger that either speaks they had no faith in their product's conclusion and just want to make as much money as they can or had no idea how to make a functional single game story anymore and just cut off. I think it's that the Nexus was reliant on power and resources from the Arks that aren't there, and the backup plan was for the Nexus to colonise poo poo which wasn't going to happen after they had their civil war/s. As a result they aren't going to all die of starvation tomorrow, but they are going to slowly die out as their resources get consumed. monster on a stick posted:Locking the Real Ending behind DLC is a Bioware tradition. Citadel, Arrival, Trespasser, Legacy, Witch Hunt, and Pinnacle Station. Arrival was Mass Effect 2.5, not the ending of ME2. In Retrospect Legacy feels more like a shoehorned bit made to fit the direction of DAI than as a genuine tie up to the DA2 storyline. Witch Hunt fits awkwardly with a wide gamut of endings. Pinnacle Station was definitively not the real ending of ME1, neither was Bring down the sky. When you really go through it, Arrival and Legacy are the only two you can genuinely argue are really trying to sequel-bait you, and they're both "nu-Bioware" products. Just started playing the trial. Hot take after having literally just starting out: the game looks good. But I'm playing on a pretty high-end computer with monster FPS, so, vv I find my Ryder pretty expressive in the short time that I've played, honestly. The downside being that he seems to be in a perpetual state of just about pissing himself in fear/just having pissed himself in fear. It's been a rough day, Bryder.
