I know gently caress all about the army, so be patient. When my brother signed up at a recruiting station they had him sign a contract listing the MOS he wanted to get and all that good poo poo, if the military is hard up for folks is there room to negotiate the terms of a re-enlistment? Like I want MOS a,b,c,d, or e and if there isn't a spot within 45 days of signing the contract becomes void? Or is it more similar to getting a bunch of boiler plate and they hand you santa's wishlist?

Basically the MOS you're currently in needs to be willing to let you go (read overstrenght) and the one you want has to be undermanned, and you need to meet the requirements for it. These numbers are different at each pay grade. Some might require you to be airborne and other identifiers. That said there are certain specialty MOS's that you can ONLY reenlist to that aren't open to initial enlistments. Special Forces is also basically always open but, I mean, its SF so that entails a lot of motivation and stuff.

What was the success rate on 18X contracts anyways? No way more than 5% of those guys ended up tabbed.

I'd say like 95% of them ended up in an AB Div  We put a few in but I never heard back from any of them. Ranger was the same way, I know of one kid that made it through, which is pretty cool. Anyhow this is CE sorry for derail
