Aces High posted:Thaaaaaaaat was his name, drat that was bothering me all day. Now I'm picturing him as Beast, Butler as Gaston and...oh my I really appreciated Luke Evans in this film. I mean, the original Gaston was a flipping' OPERA SINGER, but he held up his end. In fact, I think Evans, Gad, Audra, and Dan Stevens (during his one song) were about the only folks who actually *emoted* while singing. Even the others who weren't terrible just sang the lines with barely any emotion or inflection at all - probably because they are all traditionally actors rather than singers. I also really need more Dan Stevens in a powdered wig and rock star make up in my life.

Looks like they're skipping Dr. Diaper and starting off with the talking toilets and Professor Poopypants. I wonder if the alien lunch ladies will show up, too.

Isnt it still projecting to be the biggest movie of the year? I feel like long term its going to do absolute gangbusters and in 15 years nobody will remember it exists other than as a curiosity.

In case anyone didn't know, this isn't being done by the Dreamworks Glendale studio but was contracted out to Mikros in Canada. There is a core production team in Glendale but the artists and tech are all Mikros.

Barudak posted:Isnt it still projecting to be the biggest movie of the year? It's making a loving ridiculous amount of money. BatB had the 7th biggest domestic opening of all time and the biggest March opening ever (beating Batman v Superman's previous record) and its day 4 domestic total is actually bigger than Star Wars:Rogue One's day 4 total but there's no way it'll outperform the upcoming Star Wars movie. For comparison, Star Wars: The Force Awakens' day 4 domestic total was exactly $100 million higher than BatB.

Correction: they just got the BO actuals and it's actually the 6th biggest domestic opening of all time, pushing Iron Man 3 down a rank. It came really close to taking the 5th spot. Of course this means that we'll now get LIVE ACTION DISNEY REMAKES FOR THE REST OF TIME.

Captain Underpants looks cute. Probably not something I'll see in theaters unless with my niece and nephew, but the animation's nice and loose, the style is translated well, it has a manic energy and it thus far isn't pop-referencing the gently caress out of everything. I've never read the books, but I get the feeling it's got some love to it and isn't just a soulless, corporate cash venture. Looks like a good kids' movie.

I just realized this morning that during the gag where they chronicle every Batman movie that's ever happened in quick succession, they skipped over Mask of the Phantasm, didn't they? I mean, okay, sure, that wasn't a popular film by a long shot, but it was a good one...

They went over every live action Batman movie. I love Mask of the Phantasm, but it being a theatrically released movie is almost a trivia question to the general public at this point.
