The funny thing is that Heinlein wrote Starship Troopers - the book that all the wanna be fascists and military buffs loved - and Stranger in a Strange Land - the book that all the hippies loved - back to back. Actually that's not even entirely accurate. He paused in the middle of Stranger to write Troopers so he effectively was writing them simultaneously.

Glib answer: Fast-track to getting shot at by the alt-right at any Milo event of your choice.

Less glib answer: IWW's had a giant leap in membership since November, and priorities are in flux. Things I know IWW is active in off the top of my head: antifa (GDC locals), prison strikes/prisoner rights (IWOC), organizing in workplaces like Stardust.

Later in his career, Heinlein wrote a sci-fi story about a time traveller who goes back and has sex with his own mom. I think he really was a pervert.

Nah; Steven Brust, who is a socialist whose main character in his main series, Vlad Taltos, really does not give a poo poo and is generally annoyed by socialists (because they broke up his marriage lol)

What is the thread's opinion on "The Disposessed" by Ursula K. Le Guin? It was probably my first introduction to any kind of radical political thought (I had some very cool elementary school teachers) and I haven't gone back to it in a long while.

I'm not an anarcho-syndicalist myself, but I feel the author paints a fairly realistic portrait of such a society. The major conceit I find with it is they form this new society from a blank slate: new language, new planet etc., which we all know is impossible unless we start afresh... In space!

one big union is the right idea, but looking at their size and organizing and affiliation pages, my guess is that, for experience and resources, you'd be better off with a larger union like NEA, Teamsters, a large AFL CIO affiliate like USW etc. even if you are in a service sector or office or professional environment, you should be able to find something that fits.
