Atletico PR vs Coritiba was supposed to be happening right now. It is not, because the clubs refused to sell the rights to Globo and decided to broadcast the game via YouTube and Facebook. The state federation did not like, came up with a bullshit reason and vetoed the game.

The only way for us in the US to watch games from Brazil is thru GolTV which is a channel am surprise is still around after it got raided by BeinTV for league rights that wasn't central and south american leagues. I have a streaming service that has the english and spainish feeds of GolTV and they always buffer and even doesn't work at times, anyway time for another weekly Liga MX post of the week.

Oh yeah there's been talk about bringing back the superliga which for those who don't remember was the closest we had to a Copa Sudamericaca/Europa League like competition. I think the MLS won one time but it was mainly another thing for Liga MX to win and gave us alot of MLS vs Liga MX games which one sided as one expected. My Fire made it to the 09 finals but lost to Tigres in a shootout, I always liked it since it was a nice bonus competition to watch.

New England won it once against Morelia and it remains one of like 2 trophies the team has ever won. I remember it being a fun game anyway. Ended on PK's.

No weekly Liga MX post of the week this week as the officals have decided go on strike after being treated poorly by the players

goal.com posted:

The referee union threatened to strike earlier this week after two separate incidents of violent conduct against officials. Club America defender Pablo Aguilar made contact with referee Fernando Hernandez after America's 1-0 defeat to Tijuana on Wednesday. In the other game, ref Miguel Angel Flores sent off three Toluca players, including Enrique Triverio. The Argentine forward shoved the ref after his initial decision, earning a red card.

Last night game was already to go to be suspended because the untimely death of Puebla assistant coach Anibal "Mano" Ruiz before fridays game.

He was a good man, sad to see him go but being 74 and dying suddenly on a football pitch is not a bad way to go at all.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, why wouldn't CFG just own everything? If they own the club why would some other (3rd) party get involved?

Plus easy to manipulate foreigner/domestic player squad requirements when you own teams all over the world.

IIRC you can field players whose rights are owned by a third party in Uruguay. They'll probably own the rights of the player vs the club for some financial fuckery.

You all are missing the more obvious reason. Soccer is one of the easiest ways to launder money. If you control both sides of a player transaction, it is even easier to launder that money.

Felipe Melo was a victim and the only thing he did wrong was not stomping Robben discreetly.
