You obviously won this trade, but I don't think you fleeced the other guy that bad. I expect .300 and 30 bombs from Corey Seager this year, and that's being conservative, I think he's got more power than that. Maybe not in 2017, he's still so young, but soon.

My h2h team's pitching thus far in my first week:

45.2 IP, 47 K, 1.38 ERA, 0.88 Whip, 3w, 3s.

So far I like pitching more than last year.

The pitching on all of my teams is in the shitter but I started off that way last year, too.

oh, i know. i love seager and believe he's a first rounder, especially in my obp/slg league. but seager does have a definite ceiling. i really can't see him hitting more than 35hr, and batting 2nd in that lineup limits him to about 85/90 rbi. mookie, on the other hand, has upside out the wazoo. with that bandbox he calls home and that lineup, he could eclipse 100r and 100rbi and steal like 30 relatively easy.

yea, but they can't justify keeping him out of the lineup if he's actually figured it out. his power is stantonian and he walks at a drat good clip. it'll probably be rocky going in terms of playing time for april, sure, but i think he's worth it. upside is just too high.

Today was opening day for the high A Lansing Lugnuts, and Vlad Guerrero Jr. hit a HR in his first game there! After one day of ball (a doubleheader) he's at 2/5 with 2 BB, for an OPS of 1.571 and OBP .571. He just turned 18 a couple weeks ago. I won't come here bearing Vlad updates again for quite awhile since he's at least a year away from the bigs, but I'm pumped about his nice first day atm.

this is really the heart of the matter with seager. some people believe he didn't change his approach and was just lucky with opposite field hits. others believe he was trying for the opposite field and spreading the ball. if the former, yes, he was lucky. if the latter, not so much.

from everything i and my freshman scouting eyes have seen over the past season and this season, it sure seems like he's spreading the ball. his homer this year was a relatively effortless opposite field bomb. he kind of has an inside out swing, a bit more pronounced this season even.

i don't know, i'm a full believer. really weird hitter no matter how you slice it, though. his swing seems somewhat normal at first, but then you start analyzing it and it just gets weirder.

Batting 7th today. It's also worth remembering he tore it up in Sept/Oct last year and in ST this year so it wasn't exactly the most unreasonable thing to hope he had flipped the switch.

He's on the 10-day DL but that's also his throwing arm so I'll take the Over.

EDIT:
Two teams make this trade today:

Team A gets: Daniel Murphy, Nomar Mazara, Sean Manaea
Team B gets: Stephen Piscotty, Fernando Rodney, Kelvin Herrera, Adam Wainwright

Am I wrong in thinking Team B got totally fleeced? Piscotty is nothing special, Rodney is trash, Herrera is OK and I guess Wain-o is an upgrade over Manaea, but what the gently caress. The only 1B on Team B's roster now is Greg Bird.

EDIT2: Apparently the owner of Team A is notorious for just bombarding people with trade reqs until they give in.

People seem to really believe in Margot's power surge, so I would say him. The rest of their lines project to be pretty similar (Margot with a lower OBP) so the steals should just be icing.

EDIT:
Team with Melancon and Robertson - 0 SV this week
Team with Bedrosian and Holland - 3 SV this week

Man I hope Scioscia keeps Bedrosian in the closer role.

How many relievers should I carry in a 12 team, 6x6 h2h league that has saves and holds (as two separate categories)?

It's standard roster size for yahoo, 23 total, with some quirks: there's a 30IP min each week and a max of 70 aquisitions for the year. I have four relievers, and it seems like not enough, but there are some good guys on the WW that I can't seem to make room for...

That makes it tough. I was going to say carry more relievers and spot start, but that transaction limit... Can't go all RP either.

Could you possibly punt one RP category?

In leagues that count saves and holds, I like to draft one or two elite non-closers (Betances, Miller, Neris, Brach, maybe BearClaw), let everyone else draft the big name closers and get mine from the bargain bin (Treinen and Bedrosian are on most of my teams this year). I've noticed in holds leagues that lots of people ignore the category in the draft, and then only roster one setup guy, or punt the category entirely.

So, how many holds guys do the other teams have? If they mostly have 0 or 1, then you don't need 3 or 4.
