Otherwise I'm not sure what's the most individual munitions we can fire off in one strike without having to resort to clusters on day loving one. You salvo Vikhrs in pairs because the Soviets designed them to be cheap. Each Frogfoot would then have at best eight kills with a full load of vikhrs. It's all academic anyways as ours don't carry vikhrs, the best we can manage is four as-10 karens per frogfoot. I just checked the frogfoot's range and holy poo poo guys, why the gently caress did we keep these things. A 210nm combat radius is just awful. Our Sk60s outrange these things.

We can arm all our Phantoms with 2000 pound Paveways. We have eight Phantoms, so that is a lot of bomb. Those will blow up rocket artillery batteries and ammo trucks and T-55s real nice. A ton of explosive covereth a multitude of sins, and each Phantom can spread the good word twice. Doing that also lets us save the Tornados to use either HARMs or the Taurus KEPD, aka a short-range air-launched Tomahawk that's never, ever skipped Leg Day. Seriously, check out its warhead stats. Even discounting the whole humanitarian issue with cluster bombs, I don't like how using them makes our Tornados very vulnerable to pretty much anything. They're not even bombs, they're dispensers, so the Tornado has to fly at low altitude (200 feet AGL max) and directly over the target in order to use them. We'd be liable to lose them to a single guy sporting an ancient Strela-1 or a truck-mounted Zu-23-2 or something. I wonder if we can loan out a Shilka or two to the aid convoys. Maybe even loan out one of our Sperwer UAVs to some of von Count's ground peeps.

I have the following plan. 1: MLRS raid: - 1 Gripen with recon pod, can search for the mlrs and do a bit of CAP. - 1 Gripen heavy standoff (4 Maverick). - All our SK60's with m/70's. - All our Hawk's with (2) Maverick's. 2: Mechanized push: - 1 Grippen recon pod, idem. - 1 Gripen with heavy standoff (4 Mavericks). - 4 phantom's with (2) Maverick's. 3: Aid convoy: - 1 Gripen recon. - 1 Reaper drone on recon. - 2 SU-25's with (4) Karen. - 4 Tornado's with the (2) Maverick loadout. 4: AEW patrol/Tanker/CAP: - S 10B on AEW patrol. - KC 135 on Tanker duty. - 3 Gripen on CAP These have the range to the job and we do not use cluster weapons (yet)! We should keep the 4 left over Phantom's in reserve in case we need them to plug a hole somewhere. Also, should planes still have weapons left while their targets are already destroyed let them attack the other targets if possible. The Tornadoes should be used to knock out the enemy radar along the border. The nice long ranges on the HARMs should let us perform the mission from (relative) safety. Phantoms and their nice big bombs should be used to push back the Eastern push, while providing escort for the aid convoy assisted by the CAS birds. Maybe some of the CAS platforms can be used against the MLRS while the Gripens are playing top cover. The Gripens have the downside of only being able to effectively engage surface vessels while carrying Meteors. The only other non-A2A non-fuel tank device they can carry is a recce pod if they are carrying Meteors, and we need the long range A2A until the enemy doesn't have anything comparable. So Gripens are not exactly playing mud mover for awhile. We have 3 radar targets near our targets, and an airbase. The Tornadoes can carry a stand-off weapon that can put a nice big hole in that runway. Therefore, here's my plan: Plan Big Papa Strike Group 1: Targeting MLRS 4x Gripen (Standard Intercept) for the 4x Meteor 2x Tornadoes (1x HARM, 1x Taurus KEPD 350P) HARMs for the Radars, KEPD for the Runway 4x Phantoms (4x Paveways) MLRS/SAMs 6x SK-60 (M49 Rockets) MLRS and other soft/medium vehicles (these are HEAT rockets) 2x SU-25 (AT-16 Scallion) MLRS OR other targets Strike Group 2: Support Menogue 4x Gripen (LR Intercept) 2x Meteor (they need the legs) 2x Tornadoes (1x HARM, AGM-65 IR) Again, HARM for Radar and Mavericks for Tanks 4x Phantoms (Paveways) Tanks 2x Hawk 209 (Mavericks) You guessed it, Vehicles Convoy support/Support Aircraft/Notes 1x Reaper (Hellfire/Paveway LGB[21689]) Better than nothing. Both Tankers away from the front-lines, but in a position that they can gas up SG2 if needed. AWACS up and behind the front-line. If necessary, we can have a pair of Gripen keeping either group of support aircraft safe The convoy is more trouble-some, the fast movers for SG2 can support but they burn munitions to support the defense of Menogue but there's not much else to send that can be refueled which will degrade the other two groups. Maybe SG2 can play top cover for it? Degrading the enemy's radar coverage over the front could force the deployment of any AWACS platforms, giving us a chance to knock it out either now or in a future op. Negation or suppression of the close airfield would improve response time to an incoming raid by enemy forces by forcing them to base from further away. The ranges involved make this one a difficult op to plan, but I think I have everyone that can't aerial refuel in SG1 and with long enough legs to go, hit the target(s) and come back. This plan includes 0 (zero) cluster munitions because we're apparently something called "ethical mercenaries" whatever the dick that means. edit: Forgot about the Reaper Drone. Switched the Phantoms to Paveways due to the massive difference in damage between the two. CoffeeQaddaffi fucked around with this message at 04:59 on Apr 21, 2017 |

For any mission, we should probably change the default tanker settings:Stago Lego posted:I have the following plan. I don't think we have to bother with Gripens with recon pods. To be honest, I don't even know how to use those in a way that isn't inferior to Litening pods or UAV FLIRs. The SPK-39 entry in the database says it has a 5 nautical mile range. Our Sperwers and Litening targeting pods have a visual range of 30 nmi, and the MQ-9 has a visual range of 100 nmi. I think we also have access to small diameter bombs now, which are usually going to be better than Mavericks or GBU-12s because a Gripen can carry eight of them. Coffeehitler posted:[b]Plan Big Papa Why do people keep arming so many Phantoms with Mavericks? As long as the dictator hasn't, like, put his artillery trucks in the courtyard of a hospital for orphaned children, two 2000 pound Paveways will nuke an entire rocket arty battery with splash damage. (Edit: I tried out using the Taurus KEPD on runways. Turns out just one of them will put such a big hole in the runway that it gets degraded to 80% damage ) Psawhn fucked around with this message at 03:56 on Apr 21, 2017 |

Yooper, can we load supplies into our C-130 and parachute them to the destination? That'd mean we'd need to send fewer air convoys. Operation First Impressions This mission is about doing the max damage and sending a message to our enemies: Don't gently caress With Us. We're going to be doing a maximum-push operation. ROE: 1. Fire back if fired upon. 2. Fire if engaging friendly troops or aid convoys 3. Fire if positive ID'ed as hostile. 4.
