Nowadays people are hosed up weirdos who are strongly opposed to loving kids (good) but can't look at any adult interaction with a child without thinking about loving (bad). The bushwhackers were my favorite wrestlers as a kid.

But it's still a grown man licking the face of a child, not shaking their hand or patting them on the back. My point is, why would you take that chance in the first place? What happens if a parent took offense to it and punched Butch in the face? Would people run out and say "Hey, this is all in the context of wrestling, stop spoiling the show for everyone else!" You seem to be under the impression that today's social standards were the same in the 1980s. I don't know why that's what you're focusing on, all kinds of way more awful poo poo was totally OK at the time.

On one hand, that isn't a Chikara clip, although it took me a second to realize that. It's from IWA East Coast. But he did show up in Chikara during the first King of Trios back in 2007. He was... slightly reined in. It was awesome just for UltraMantis Black on commentary, trying to frame any and every little thing Dino did as being family friendly. Like, "He's trying to suck the air out of his lungs!"

I remember hearing somewhere that the New Generation era was rough because the company didn't have any real draws who moved the needle on sales for tickets, PPV buys, and merch. This made me wonder: who are the draws in WWE history? I think there's an obvious group of five at the top: Sammartino, Hogan, Austin, Rock, and Cena. Who else makes the list of draws? Not guys at the level of those five, but wrestlers whose inclusion on a card would spike sales? I've read that the only full-time wrestlers in the past few years to come close to Cena's drawing power for even a brief duration were Jeff Hardy and CM Punk. I'm sure that the Undertaker was considered a draw, but did that only start in the back half of his career after he had achieved legend status? Was somebody like Edge considered a draw? Was Daniel Bryan entering that conversation when his career ended? What about guys like Mick Foley and Triple H? Chyna and Sable? Bob Backlund and Randy Savage? Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels?

This might surprise you, but even though he was only active in the early part of the decade, Backlund was one of the top draws of the 80s and supposedly one of the top all-time draws in the WWE. Savage, Hart, Michaels, and Piper were also big draws in their heyday. Foley was a draw, but he hit his peak working with guys who were draws on their own. Edge, despite his nickname and his zillion title reigns, was a guy more analogous to like, Paul Orndorff: a meaningful draw for a period of several years but not a massive star. This is always a controversial issue for several reasons. Peak draw vs. longevity. Measuring drawing power it takes two wrestlers to make a match and several matches to make a card. The role of booking in transforming someone from a popular wrestler into a draw. People freaking out if you tell them that HHH was a draw and Sting wasn't, and so on.
