I hope to refer to the thread as little as possible on my first playthrough, but I still wanted to drop off impressions from time to time. I'm only April 19th but I've been to the Palace a couple times, and I've met the Death confidant. I appreciate the way the game's pacing coaxes you into the proper mindset--the first couple days actually do feel like moving to a new city because I got lost constantly. Likewise, I went from "gee, this guy seems like an rear end in a top hat but I don't want to give him a stroke" to "on second though, I don't actually mind if he ends up a vegetable" at a very natural clip. Nice menus, too.

I used to write the idea off, but after a lot of P5 I'm beginning to see the merit in how P3 made the party less buddy-buddy and more separated from the MC in both writing and mechanics. I dunno how it holds since I didn't enjoy FES' gameplay enough to make it much further than Block 2, but whenever you have the whole party around and chatting Joker starts to feel like a nonentity, especially when some scenes don't even give him a prompt.

Maybe, but Persona 3 didn't deliver on the concept well at all.

I think the P5 protagonist has way more voiced lines than the p3 and p4 protagonist combined so that also helps.
