For real though, has freep reacted to Trump calling himself a globalist? It seems like even they would have a hard time spinning their way out of that one.

You're all overthinking this. Globalism is good when a conservative in power is a globalist, it's only bad when the liberals are in power and pushing a globalist agenda.

Night10194 posted:I'm just curious because some of the other non 'I wanna shoot black folks n' illegals' gun people I know seem up on legalized silencers: Why? Is it a hearing protection thing? Guns are loud. Basically imagine that you were a motorcycle enthusiast but for some reason the government made it an rear end-pain to buy a muffler so whenever you rode you had to wear earplugs and all your neighbors hated you. And like a muffler, a suppressor doesn't make a gun literally silent, just not painfully loud. Plus the history is silly: banning suppressors/silencers back in 1935 has nothing to do with mob hits or assassinations, it was Fish and Wildlife departments wanting one more thing to charge poachers with. Not that it stops them, since any idiot can make a suppressor cheap with off-shelf parts for jacklighting deer, while honest folks are hosed. Put another way, in gun-hating UK suppressors are waaaay easier to get than in the US. It's a pointless law that helps nothing and just says "gently caress off gun owners, we hate you."

It uses a magazine of blank cartridges that use a telescoping piston in front of the gunpowder to shove the grenade out and seal the propellant from ever exiting the gun, removing almost all of the noise of firing. Obviously the grenade isn't silent, but it's impossible to hear where the grenade was fired from. There's just a sudden explosion out of nowhere.

Totally off topic but I'm really curious why you can only hunt turkeys with a shotgun. Like, I'm familiar enough that I know most people hunt turkey with shotguns, but I'm wondering why someone would make it a legal requirement. Was there an epidemic of people pistol-hunting turkeys????

Just a guess, but it might be because shotgun pellets lose their energy much faster than aerodynamic bullets and you're firing into the air. There's a good chance that shooting rifles or handguns into the air would lead to bullets with plenty of lethal energy falling as far as a mile away.

The lethal projectile angle mainly because a bullet through a turkey head/neck isn't going to slow the bullet down multiplied by the difficulty in hitting something the size of a fist at 30 yards minimum that's moving. If you've ever shot a rifle you know this is much harder than it sounds, especially with turkeys because they're smart and will scatter with sudden movement or seeing something that doesn't look right. When you hunt poo poo like deer and whatnot you're normally aiming for the body, normally the lungs which is pretty much center mass. With turkeys you generally lure them by enticing them to look for a gently caress and then cock blocking them with a shot to the head/neck. Shooting a turkey in the body ruins the bird, unless you like spitting pellets, and doesn't guarantee a kill shot because a strutting Tom looks much bigger than he actually is. Interesting anecdote: one of my great uncles was a real outdoorsman and spent basically all his retirement hunting and fishing in the Colorado high country. At some point in his eighties I wanna say he came down with appendicitis and when they took his appendix out, my parents tell me that the surgeons found a bunch of birdshot that he'd eaten by accident.
