I'm not sure it counts as a goongret because it was probably one or two people reccomending it but House of the Dying Sun blows. Every single mission is the same thing and you can beat the game in a couple of hours. There is an additional difficulty that strips you of the big ships and leaves you only with fighters but that's just plain annoying. Thank whoever read my refund request because I clocked around 4 hours in the game - trying to see if there was anything more in each difficulty - and they still accepted. Then I got Hollow Knight with that money and everything was right. What's the opposite of a goongret btw? Because absolutely everyone reccomended me to not get Tales of Zestiria, I got it anyway and it sucked.

I like Nier A but I don't like the way difficulty was handled. They made the exact opposite mistake they made in the original. In the original if you played on hard, everything was the same except Ernie's had way too much life. In Nier A the enemies have the same amount of life but can one shot you easily unless you put in a ton of defensive chips and even then they can still one shot you. It sticks because I founders normal became too easy but putting it on hard also want fun. Worst of all, it would have actually been good to give enemies more life this time because you'd actually be able to use the Platinum combo system, which goes to waste when things die in a few hits from anything you do (which, once again, playing on hard doesn't remedy)

Ah yes

I guess a lot of my regrets come from the days when I would grab stuff off of the shelves of used game stores if it was cheap and looked vaguely interesting without doing any research or knowing about the game at all Nowadays I watch some gameplay videos to get an idea of what the game is all about and that's served me well. Another unlucky pick from back in the day- Gladius. I found it to be just mercilessly boring and only played a few hours of it.

Makes traversal feel really dangerous and exciting This sounds fine if you want to spend as much time with the game as possible but doing this would bore me away from playing Nier faster than playing it on easy did. Drop it on easy and get through with as little arsing as possible is what worked for me. The difficulty in Nier really irritates me though, there isn't any point to it other than to take up more of your time. No achievements tied to it, no change in enemy variety, just the most basic less health less damage. Its lazy particularly from a company that handled difficulty level so well in games like bayonetta or god hand.

Star Ocean 5 is the most hilariously low budget trying to pretend it's not games I've ever played. It's basically a season 1 episode of The Next Generation. And not one of the good ones like when Picard eats some maggots.

It's okay but not remarkable, and is insanely budget (it's like an hour before there's a directed cutscene), but 4 is insanely bad so "good compared to 4" means absolutely nothing. But I also got distracted by games that weren't just "okay" and haven't gone back to beat it so I didn't make it to the actual complaints of that game (one of which being too many escort battles and not being able to skip cutscenes before hard fights in 2016).
