He always seemed to have a really good time when we were together but then he'd get arbitrarily mad and start talking about his l'esprit d'escalier experiences after having a fight with the person installing his new windows and then say "you have to leave" or even if it was an arranged time for me to come by he'd say "I didn't want you here."
