I could never get scans to spawn even with scumming, but there were TONS of passenger missions. Also, there's two beacons there, but regardless of which one your passengers want to go to, you can just scan one and they all complete.

Take 2 high paying scan missions, then scum until you see a good group of them. It is not uncommon to see 10+ pop up at once. In open, you also get credit if someone near by completes the scan, which is especially hilarious. I've got a viper with 415m/a non boost and 30k rebuy for those. It's an absolute riot to fly around and slam into the ground with. Plus leaving the slot at 500+ is always fun. At this point, I'm pretty sure that Quince is just a joke put in by the devs, since they do not care about patching it out.

I just finished the first leg of my first real exploration trip. Made it 2200 light years to the cave nebula and then made a 500 ly detour to check out the elephant trunk nebula, where i stopped at a cool asteroid base, repaired, and turned in over 20 million credits worth of exploration data (that recent exploration payout buff is the best). Also, i'm flying a multirole anaconda with a max jump range of just 32 light years, and with the exception of asteroid belts, i scanned literally everything on the way. Lol, just kidding i even scanned a few asteroid belts. I may be space mad, but I did get my space name plastered on hundreds of things, and found a bunch of completely unexplored systems and a few waterworlds, and did a bunch of sweet jumps in my space go kart, and mined some rare space minerals. Was a nice change of pace from the trading and bounty hunting that i was previously burning myself out on. Also found a couple escape pods and smuggled them into the station, at my own risk, because i'm a good space samaritan. Suck it space cops and your stupid space laws that make it illegal to save stranded space people. Anyways, the next detour is the NGC something-something nebula, and then it's onto the final destination: the Zurara megaship, and whatever other interesting poo poo there is in the Formadine rift. Only 10,000 more light years to go...and then, the return trip. And I still haven't been interdicted by the loving thargoids dammit you bastards i have all these guns and poo poo come at me space bros. You even ignored me when i was wandering around Maia/the pleiades looking for you

What's the consensus on the Clipper? I really want a Gutamaya, but the Cutter is a long way into the future. I made 50 mil in a few hours in Quince now, so the Python is pretty much within reach, and as such my only real reason to get a Clipper is that I want to fly an iSpaceship. Is it fun to fly?

You can't pilot those (yet) Biggest ships you can get are the Anaconda, Federal Corvette, and Imperial Cutter which are basically small capital ships anyway (that you fly around without a crew)

I just wish the clipper could hit 30ly-35ly. If it could it would be a perfect ship. It's really fast outside of FSD. Like, fighting things the shields are a bit weak but you have such a stupid speed advantage it doesn't really matter.

Well after being a bit late on getting Horizons and a buddy basically explaining how to build proper ships (since somehow I borked my first real upgrade ship a Viper MKIV) I've gotten full blown space madness. From the core to Colonia to Sag A* and now the slow limp back to civilization. A stripped down Asp Explorer with some light engineering on the FSD, I get about 40ly a jump. 19,000 light years to go back to civilization though...

Hell, I got my beast of a Cutter to 30+ly and I distinctly remember the Clipper starting with a higher jump range. That should give you a higher ceiling when engineering your Clipper. (Edit: Some testing in Coriolis showed me you can easily hit 35+ly per jump if you get lucky with your rolls.)

I updated this game and went to check out one of the generation ships because why not, Generation Ship Thetis is appropriately creepy as gently caress. Go there and listen to the logs in a dark room with headphones for maximum effect. It's orbiting Nefertem 6A if youve not been there yet. Now I need to go and visit more and check random systems for listening posts. E: someone needs to do that spectrum analysis poo poo on the last log entry, it's just a broadcast of the signal the generation ship picked up, I kinda want to find the originating planet of the malicious signal. E2: tried to run it through a spectrum analyzer on my phone but it wont let me zoom in on the waveform not gonna pay 5 bucks for the ability to do it either. orange juche fucked around with this message at 13:20 on May 13, 2017 |

Decided I liked it enough that I's set down and see things from planetside. It's my first time landing on a multiple G world, and it's definitely more daunting than trying to land of some piddly little .3G moon. Bye, planet! What I really want to see are some superexpensive tools for miners and traders. Give us monstrous autominers and specialized trading software that costs whole shitloads of millions and replaces external tools, but if you automate your mining and trucking, you'll still be very open to pirates and interdiction. I mean, we're basically back to building appliances by hands 1300 years after we've nearly automated all of society. Black Griffon fucked around with this message at 18:40 on May 13, 2017 |

I liked how in Eve the top end of mining was basically deployment of a mining installation. That would be a way more fun form of mining too - deploy a harvester and then protect it while IT does the lovely boring part. You could even make them expensive and one-use so that launching one is a commitment and a big gamble.

Even in 3200 they had the MB4 mining machine. It would be cool to see them bring that back. You might still need a refinery to process what it mines, or you could get a larger one that has an on board refinery? In Frontier you could have up to 10 machines on the go at once. The only reason to do asteroid mining was to cheese the combat rating (blowing up asteroids with a mining laser counted as a kill, and you could time accelerate to go from harmless to elite in about 2 minutes) With the multiplayer aspect, defending your mining machines could be a fun mechanic, as could raiding other machines.

Thanks to the community goal campaign I'm fairly deep into Anaconda range as far as my total credits are concerned. How much money should I have before I start to seriously consider buying one? My current rule is "double the cost of the hull for the sake of upgrades and insurance." Is that too much or too little?
