Doctor Spaceman posted:Unity's release was a complete clusterfuck on so many levels (performance, bugs, microtransactions, lovely gameplay). Some of that has been fixed or isn't relevant, but underneath it's still a so-so game with a bad plot and a bad main character. It may have been a clusterfuck but it did have a really funny glitch

Nah Crime & Punishment is a really cool rear end in a top hat Holmes simulator, The Devil's Daughter is similar but also sadly worse.

Help Im Alive posted:What does that mean Anyway, once you build a theory about the crime (there's a special system gathering important facts that you connect into logical entities) you say who you think is guilty. You can also choose what to do with him/her - you can take the consequences to the full extent of the law or go for something in a morally grey area. You also don't have to even get the information if you caught the right person - you may ask the game to tell you but you don't have to. There are several cases in the game, it's a pretty cool title. I'm not a huge fan of how the final resolution of the cases works (the possibility of getting it wrong sounds neat but in practice doesn't add a whole lot to the game) but yeah it's a pretty cool mystery game

Palpek posted:Crimes and Punishments is a special entry in the series. The other ones are pretty much standard 3D point and click adventure games. C&D is more freeform - there's a crime scene and there are suspects and it's up to you who you accuse of the crime or how thoroughly you investigate the murder. Some suspects won't even be available before you uncover enough material. Thanks, that definitely sounds like something I'd be into (and they're both on sale on PS4 so I guess I'll grab the Crimes and Punishments one) Why is the sequel worse

Can you accuse a hospitalized child of committing serial murders, because otherwise it is an inferior detective game to the true champ, Persona 4

I was a lot more interested in the Wild Hunt in the first Witcher game where they were apparently some kind of supernatural hell ghosts instead of just some elves.

Sakurazuka posted:Berseria is the best Tales game you can get on anything. Are there ever going to be any side quests in this one? I'm playing it right now and am enjoying it a ton, but it seems weird that I've been at it for 20+ hours and it's been more linear and with less side content than even Zestiria was. It's not necessarily a bad thing I'm just curious

Was there ever a port of Tales of Destiny 2, whether official or with a translation patch? The real one on PS2 I mean, not the PS1 one that was actually Tales of Eternia that they relabeled on the US release for some reason. Destiny was the first Tales game I played so I still have a soft spot for it, clunky as it is.

raditts posted:Was there ever a port of Tales of Destiny 2, whether official or with a translation patch? Nope. The farthest a fan translation got was translating the menus, iirc. I remember there being a summary of it on GameFAQs (though it was written by somebody where English was not their first language so it's kinda hard to parse at times).

I finally beat the first boss of the Ringed City last night. It took few attempts to learn how to dodge his two worst attacks, then on the kill I ended up eating both of the attacks and still managed to survive I can't imagine how hard that boss would be if you couldn't hug them to avoid most of the swipes, Bloodborne style.
