I wish I could live in a world where we would consider the use of weapons that would lead to mass extinction of life as being sometng that the bad guys propose, rather than being a sensible policy.

So was it just a poo poo audience that kept hammering on about the same things or was Corbyn answering badly? Or both?

It dominated quite a lot of the debate. He didn't have a good answer though, and that's pretty poor considering how likely it was to come up. He should have just said that discussing the circumstances in which the deterrent would be used weakens the deterrent, and just kept repeating that.

Like I get why Theresa May can't answer anything, she's an idiot. She apparently understands nothing that isn't a soundbite. But Corbyn has shown he can be amazingly astute. Why wasn't he prepared?

It's quite common when thinking about Ireland and the peace process, for people to remark that you don't make peace with your friends, you make peace with your enemies (I think it was a line in Game of Thrones, no wonder it gets quoted often). But really, as that audience showed, that's not what people want, it's weak to make peace with your enemies. No, the correct course of action is to bomb them into submission and make them surrender.

Went to the Hammersmith/Fulham deaf and disabled hustings tonight. UKIP guy used the term 'mongoloid' in his opening remarks, got the constituency name wrong and said that people who can't spell end up resorting to a life of crime. Tory guy was smarmy and awful, didn't know about his own party's planned cuts to disability benefit, kept talking about the number of disabled people in work being increased and left early (as did his UKIP chum). Green guy just read from the manifesto (aside from briefly mentioning he'd had mental health issues and also he worked at the local hospital). Lib dem woman was alright and very enthusiastic but also trying to bang the "ACTUALLY we restrained the Tories" drum which got her leapt on Labour guy is shadow justice secretary and incumbent, he was late but he actually made reference to local issues, seemed the most polished and didn't use archaic offensive racist terms for disabled people.
