Voting Labour in Bristol once my brother wakes up. He's switched from Tory to Lib Dem at the last second because he doesn't like May's plans for the internet. I'm pretty sure my sister's going Labour (former nurse, now primary school teacher), parents going Tory despite how the Tories are responsible for the reasons my sister is a former nurse

forkboy84 posted:It also doesn't hurt, and it softens the blow after voters inevitably gently caress up. 2010 was depressing but alright because I voted for Lucas and she won at least, it was funny because I watched the results come in with a friend who had voted Libdem and when they immediately agreed to a coalition she went "So... I basically voted for the Conservatives then." 2015 was pretty drat bad because I let myself have literally a single days worth of hope that Ed might swing it slightly and then Davie Pie triple killed every other party leader. I voted SNP anyway despite going to the polling booth intending to vote Ed because "Controls on Immigration " mugs? Try harder. Brexit sucked, my favourite chunk of the family lives in Greece and now I'm gonna need a loving visa or some poo poo. Trump was the worst because I was basically sure Hillary would win, had watched her disembowel him in the debates etc went to bed and woke up in Trumpverse. Then me and the lass had to travel to Sweden the night after so it was a weary day of shellshocked travel followed by an evening in a hotel with only CNN as english telly. I've been pessemistic about this election essentially since 2005 so I'm not set up to hope but I genuinely care about this one for the first time possibly ever. I know the British people vote always vote badly but this Tory campaign is so loving historically dire and Corbyn's Labour is so very close to good its going to be horrible confirming just how loving uphill this struggle is going to be, but then I guess it always was going to be. We're closer than we have been before, just need to not lose the momentum and let the neoliberals take over again after. oops that was a long one, probably the first of many today.

Exeter, my constituency, is the last Labour seat in the South-West. Ben Bradshaw has held the seat since 1997. At the hustings two days ago, Ben Bradshaw convincingly won over the audience, in my opinion. I've literally only seen campaign posters for Ben and the Lib Dems so I'd be very surprised if he didn't hold it again. Will be voting after work. Never seen a young person at my polling station before so any increase would be an improvement.

I overslept so didnt manage to vote this morning, but will be voting Labour later on, same as my brother and sister-in-law. Alas despite my brother being extremely well read on politics, working (loosely) in the field and thoroughly schooling us all on why we should vote labour, my parents are both voting conservative. My dad's reason is that he thinks the tories will be better for the economy - are there any articles or videos from economists explaining the implications one way or the other? I remember there were some great ones for Brexit.

Voted SNP in a historically safe SNP seat, so it probably didn't make much difference, but it's the principle of the thing. And as far as I'm aware my immediate family is all either SNP or Labour so that's alright. Though I'm pretty sure my stepdad voted Leave because Dey Took Our Jerbs.

My prediction is youth turn out will be high, Tories will still win a commanding majority. It'll be the old centrists who gently caress us because of poo poo like this: I can’t believe in May or Corbyn, but the ballot is sacred. How to vote? You can't choose between Labour and the Conservatives in this election? Genuinely? And you pay attention to politics? You loving oval office, drown in poo poo.

Whats gonna be great is the second after the exit polls where we spend 2 weeks of the media and PLP pressuring Corbyn to resign. Maybe it'll work but then the membership is just gonna vote in Jam Che rather than Jam Grandad.

Here's something absurd from The Sun https://twitter.com/pointlesslettrs/status/872800581655699456 Normally this sort of speculative fiction pish is Daily Mail fodder but seems The Sun is branching out. Stare in slack-jawed wonder at the idea that a PM could be close to a union leader agitating for a general strike.

Just voted Labour in Beaconsfield, which is basically a wasted vote because the Tories are holding that seat even if Dominic Grieve shoved leaflets through everyones doors asking us to legalise paedophilia but specifically for Muslims. I'm very jealous of my cousin though. Lives in Hayes. Gets to vote for John motherfucking McDonnell.
