I've had a few messages from google telling me I need to edit content on a forum because the banner ad people complained their ads were showing on the same screen as something they found offensive. I agree though, it's pretty dumb.

So does Wes Craven's Invitation to Hell MST3K eps are at the very least a kind of para cinema, functioning as both cinematic and televisual/video works. The problem with Letterboxd/TMDB is that there's a clearly arbitrary construction of cinema, so you get situations where, if you accurately added that a movie was technically shot/released on video, you wouldn't be able to log it. edit: I'm too indecisive to pick four favorite movies, so I just pick my favorite and then cycle through the three most recent films I saw (not released in the last two years) that gave me a 'drat that poo poo was dope' reaction: K. oh man, I'm super jealous that you watched that Manson doc/movie/thing. Where did you find it? I went looking once and I found the filmmakers' website but never found the actual movie. It looks like the site is down right now, but here's just a taste of the crazypants: my old banned account posted:This movie has footage of the Family at the Spahn Ranch (where they were living when the murders took place), interviews with them, music from them and their associates, and is generally really weird to the point where when Squeaky Frohm tried to shoot Gerald Ford they temporarily banned it from being shown to not influence potential jurors. It was nominated for a Best Documentary Oscar the year it came out, but the directors of the film never went to make anything else.

Oh dang, I had an SA name change and the letterboxd account name in the OP is broken. I'm https://letterboxd.com/IdiotBear/ and having a mini-feed of people checking in movies has led me down some decent paths. I've also noticed that if you put something relatively obscure in your top movies, other people who are listed as "fans" may find you and add you, and you can find weird junk that way.

I made a list more involved than "here are movies I watched this year"! It's an idea I've thought about a lot, and after watching Ghost in the Shell tonight I finally laid the bones out on the table. I'm still not sure exactly what the primary connecting idea between these five movies is, or if it's just a general exploration of a theme by one actress in particular (which is not something that happens a lot these days). I waffled back and forth about whether to put one of the Avengers/Black Widow-featuring movies on here, but since the actual exploration of Black Widow's humanity seems to have happened prior to her introduction to us, it didn't really fit (aside from that embarrassing scene in Age of Ultron). But still, now every time ScarJo does a sci-fi movie I'm gonna be looking to see if it's about artificial humanity. I hope she keeps it up.

I should get into the habit of doing occasional themed top 4's but I'll never stick with it. Anyway
