They probably could do with updating it, I had a look at who was mayor of Sheffield and it's Anne Murphy, Don't think she's muslim.

Who cares who the mayor is anyway do they have much power? I know the London mayor might have a lot more power but isn't being a mayor mostly just people getting to wear special jewelry and there's probably a statute from the 1100s meaning every farmer in the local area has to give them a bucket of poo poo every year.

Wasn't that in no small part because he thought the Empire was a bit too 'urban' and wanted a better way of loving with the Soviet Union?

No, they're not allowed to. There was a lot of speculation though and I think Gove said the Queen hates the EU but he is a slimy crap filled toad so whatever he says can be ignored.

They're somehow not, though. The problem with anything screen based is you can't modify it or doodle on it, you can't rifle through it quickly, searching/scanning sucks and the fact you can only have one screen at once (or two if you use dual monitors but w/e) is a problem too. You can have like 8 different bits of paper immediately to hand.

In fairness Churchill saw the US, Europe and the Commonwealth (with Britain at its head) as a triumvirate of post war powers. However it's pretty unlikely he'd look at the current political landscape and conclude that Britain was best served going it alone.

Honestly, that probably was a subtle little jab - the Queen's job is entirely about appearances, so every aspect of her outfit is utterly micromanaged. Sneaky little wardrobe choices are about the only way she can make anything approaching a political statement.

All this means that if you see her wearing a red coat and an ushanka, you know what to do, comrades.

I recall reading reports from multiple sources that the Queen actually was in favour of Brexit. Given that she's an 91 year old monarchist this seems way more likely than the alternative. She's probably all over that "Empire 2.0" strategy.

Naming a donor or a political supporter as ambassador to an established ally is one of the less crazy things Trump has done. Postings in Western Europe are typically used as gifts. That doesn't mean it's a good thing, but it's not new for this President.

After the past couple of weeks, she may be considerably more in favour of making Theresa May squirm.

Also, she was an ambulance driver during the war, and the EU has been pretty effective at keeping one of those from happening again.

DUP huffing and puffing they have secured a commitment from the Tories to fully extend all aspects of the military covenant to Northern Ireland.

Full implementation has been blocked previously with understandable nationalist objections to anything approaching preferential access to public services for armed forces veterans - though the covenant only requires steps are taken to ensure members of the armed forces are not at a disadvantage compared to normal citizens there are concerns full implementation could result in a push for additional preference as in England for veterans in housing allocation, a touchy subject considering the history of social housing in NI and quite possibly illegal under existing NI equality legislation preventing indirect discrimination based on political opinion.

Lord Ashcroft previously recommended amending section 75 of the agreement to include armed service personnel as a protected category to allow reasonable discriminatory measures to be taken to facilitate the covenants implementation, any such move would be highly inflammatory

If the UK possessed a comprehensive system of identity verification linked to the provision of identity documents, like the rest of Europe, then the current notion of 'registering' EU 27 citizens here would not even require any discussion, just as the free movement migration controls already extant in EU legislation could have actually been implemented, as they have been in France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands in the past, if the UK government had the competence to know who is actually entering the country in the first place. UK government incompetence is to blame for this- the EU are asking for nothing more than could be achieved in any of the other EU 27 countries that are actually competent.

It's not even confined to Trump, is it? Giving your random golfing buddies ambassadorships is just how it works in 'Murca because every time there's a new administration they remove the heads of every branch of the civil service and replace them with donors, bagmen and fellow members of the Skull and Bones political appointees.
