I feel bad for the Spurs, because their plan to destroy GSW with size and midrange jumpers was revealed, and then Kawhi was injured by warriors' mole David Lee.

They're going to bring in Derrick Rose to mentor Derrick White, trade for Derrick Williams, Derrick Favors, and to complete the all Derrick squad:

hmm, i just had a thought about all the danny green/lma trade rumors

cp3 and blake opted out of their contracts and people are saying the clippers won't want to pay redick.

my guess is cp3 resigns for the SUPERmax but griffin might be outta there along with jj

that leaves a big hole in the PF and SG positions and the cap space to absorb danny and lma and not have to go full rebuild which might scare off cp3

does this all make sense and can it work?

edit: maybe a sign and trade with cp3? but that goes against the whole "no rebuild" argument and the spurs need big men, especially if aldridge leaves

I do wonder about that team-that-never-was. In another world where Magic clicks with the young Lakers, add Shaq and maybe he's the veteran leadership that actually makes that team work and not kind of be pretty good but not great until Phil Jackson arrives.

Ahh I'm pages behind I wonder if PG or Hayyyyyyward got moved yet but I just gotta post first

My opinion: Selling a pick is a mistake. It might be an almost-unavoidable mistake, but it's always a mistake. It's giving up an asset to your opponents for no gain, which is a loss.

Acquiring a random dude you know nothing about who you can try out on your G-League team is better than selling a pick. Trading it for a future second rounder to some team that wants a pick right now is better. If you can't find a single person in the world worth drafting for a tryout it's a failure of your scouts. If you can't trade a 2nd round pick for even a heavily-protected 2nd round pick it's a failure of your front office (If you collect enough of those you'll eventually be able to 2-for1 them to move up a few slots). Teams print money, and winning accelerates their printing speed. Short-term financial gain is extremely dumb for an NBA team.

There is no way in which selling a pick is not an error.

Nah they could have beaten the Warriors. Would they have? Who knows but either way you don't blow up a team that good for no reason. As they are at worst the third best team in the league

MourningView posted:

The players are obviously going to say this so I'm not gonna get on Fultz, but it'll be really funny when people actually predict this. They're gonna be bad. The three centerpieces of the team are a rookie they just drafted, another rookie who just missed the entire season with an injury and is potentially playing a brand new position (they may rethink that with Fultz, I dunno), and a center with a long injury history who has played like 30 games in 3 years. People always want these super young teams to be good before they are. Look at Minnesota last year, when everyone had them as a playoff team. Don't confuse "promising" with "actually good"

Ring Ding Ding that's a YUP right there. This guy right here, he watches basketball
