I have NEVER received the respect I deserve as the leader and founder of The Masterflock, the internet's largest and oldest Christopher Masterpiece fan group in all of history, and I DEMAND that changes. From now on, you will respect Skinty McEdger!

The BBC just revised it's article on Corbyn's speech to include this paragraph seemingly to placate the people moaning about their coverage being too fawning.

quote:

Mr Corbyn was not without his dissenters among the large crowd, with some boos heard during the speech and small pockets of the audience walking away towards the end.

Well, either they are fabricating/over-emphasising stuff to appease Tories, which is unacceptable, or they were showing bias in omitting it in the first place. Either way, the BBC really needs to stop being poo poo.

It's delightful to see two stalwarts of really good but underappreciated hiphop suddenly, in their 40s, hit the big time. Doesn't happen that often. And it's not as El-P's production style has radically changed much since the days where he was one of those rappers that appealed to a pretty specific niche, who'd probably also like Aesop Rock, Kool Keith, De La Soul & MF DOOM. Good poo poo, but for whatever reason people preferred 50 Cent.

Almost as unlikely a mainstream breakthrough as Jeremy Corbyn.

What's the source for this? I knew he got recorded in a bar saying some fairly innocuous stuff about Corbyn not being very appealing to working class voters, and that his choice for an eventual replacement would be Clive Lewis (which the Sun then tried to spin as him plotting to oust Corbyn). I'm not aware of anything else though, and thought he'd been solidly behind Corbyn basically the whole time?

Do none of you people have parents in their 60s? Jesus Christ, yeah, olds still use phones, and don't want to use whatever the latest social networking site is. Most 60 somethings aren't desperate to learn how to use Skype & if you start talking about VoIP their eyes will glaze over. Now my mum did when my sister spent a year in Chile and couldn't afford to make international calls, but she's already forgotten. She also has no interest in owning a mobile, can't see the point of Facebook, and almost certainly has never heard of Whatsapp. Which isn't to say she's a luddite, she uses Spotify to find new music, and is a regular email user and often helps the (much younger) teachers at the school she works at with (very) minor computer problems, it's just if she doesn't need to use new technology then what's the point?

Phones, traditional landlines, are great from that view. They've been around for loving ages, they are simple to use, rarely break, it's nice, familiar & simple.

My parents are farmers in their mid sixties and they use Facebook, Whatsapp, Skype, Instagram and more. They got no problems learning new tech. In the greenhouse farming business that's part for the course.

I saw Jeremy Corbin speak at the Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival last year and he had the crowd completely fired up.
Emily Benn was also there, but the highlight for me was Frances O'Grady the general secretary of the TUC. She was awesome and inspired me to finally join a union the next day!
I would encourage people to go if they get the chance as it is free to attend on Sunday.

In related news to that, a bunch of Grenfell Tower survivors who were put in hotels as temporary accommodation got booted out of the holiday inn they were staying in as the council hadn't been able to extend their bookings.

Survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire have been evicted from their emergency hotel accommodation at short notice after the local council was unable to extend their booking.

In a letter from Kensington and Chelsea council to the families affected, it said people needed to urgently leave their rooms by 4pm on Friday.

“Despite efforts to extend your stay at the Holiday Inn Kensington Forum, regrettably the hotel has stated that they do not have availability,” the council wrote.

The letter, which was subsequently shared on social media, tells families to contact the council’s accommodation team as a matter of urgency and provides a phone number.
