A computer program that can tap into literally every CCTV camera in the city and run facial recognition on every face no matter how grainy the footage is basically magic. They could've just not included that bit of crazy sci-fi technology.

It would be nice if Joe got to do some sort of proper detective stuff next season. I like him as Barry's wise dad because that's a part he plays well, but outside of that, he's mostly the non-science guy the rest of the team explains science stuff to.

I mean at the very least everyone else on Team Flash except Joe is a STEM specialist and should have little to no practical experience in non-academic avenues of investigation or building a network of contacts and tipsters in diverse areas of interest. Joe and Iris both should be bringing more to the table than different flavors of moral support 95% of the time. If you watch clips of the guy acting with his native accent, he's actually really charismatic and charming, aka everything this version of Wally West should be. The forced American accent is crippling him-- just do a Negative Time Sphincter Prolapse or something that changes history so his mom raised him in Australia before moving back to Central City to kick the bucket. Presto, problem solved. I don't know why American accents so hard for some people. Bob Morley on the 100 seems okay with it, though he occasionally slips up (any time he says the word 'our,' he might as well turn into a koala for a second). KJ Apa is from New Zealand, and he can just loving do it. Haven't heard him go kiwi yet. I know it's not the same accent, but come on, it's close enough.

I don't have anything against journalists and think they're an important part of society. But like, if Iris spends six month tracking down documents and sources to find proof of corruption or something incredibly meaningful like that its not exactly in Barry's wheelhouse. And like I'm not entirely sure what Barry needs a journalist for when they're chasing a bank robber who shoot ice and fire or a giant telepathic gorilla. Maybe they should just add a side plot when Iris is sending tips to Oliver. Meanwhile Team Flash is a bunch of science wizards and I'm at peace with that. howe_sam posted:Rose McIver doing the "stay tuned for iZombie" promos in her native accent always weirdest me out. It Flash was hated she could be the PR lady. But everyone loves Flash unless it's plot relevant, it's not like he hasn't been a plague on Star City.

I recently re-watched Season 1 on Netflix. It was weird being reminded of how much they leaned into Barry and Caitlyn as a romantic possibility. I'd almost forgotten how amazing Cavanaugh is as Wells-Thawne, he's still really good in the next two seasons, but not quite to that level. Mainly on the basis of the material he's working with. There's an alternate reality where Eddie doesn't die, Caitlyn and Barry become a thing and the show remains light and fun in the follow-up seasons.

I like how Barry Allen was fast enough to catch a bullet that was fired at his neck out of the air in season 1, but a super charged, "so fast I need a suit to not vibrate apart" Savitar Allen can start running towards Barry and Iris can shoot him in the back with the bullet 1) catching up to him and 2) killing him. SPEED FORCE

Well it's easy, his side of the shot was in slow motion, Iris side of the shot wasn't. By activating super speed he was actually going much slower than anyone not on camera.

The show's always had a problem with having their cake and eating it too on Barry's stated capabilities vs. depicted feats. I did some back-of-the-envelope Fermi estimations on how fast a person would need to move unseen in typically portrayed situations (such as early in the series when Barry is explicitly sub-sonic but invisibly whips in and out of a clothing store across the street from a crime scene) and I figure it's around mach 6, ~4500 mph. He didn't even explicitly break the sound barrier until like 2/3 of the way through season 1.

The best thing the show could do is to destroy the speed force and somehow Barry and Wally retain like 1/10 their speed.

It must be his posture in that first pic but the Future Flash suit kinda makes him look flabby, the way it folds like that. I'm sure it's fine, but that's a poorly timed shot.

All this SPEEDMATH is the reason why back before the show was out, I was hoping they would sort of take the 'Arrow' route and ground his powers just a little. Don't make him a normal human with super reflexes or anything, but set clear limits on his speed and adhere to them in some way. Make him fast, but not stupid-fast, where he can obviously run and react way faster than a normal human but you can still get the drop on him. Or maybe make it so he can only use his speed in short bursts or something. They way they did it is fun, and all, and ironically probably lighter on the effects budget given that often all they have to do is animate a lightning-blur and use an air machine to simulate his speed. But it gives us the present problem where Barry has the powers of a god and the mind of a six-year-old (and not a particularly bright one).
