I read a different article about that barn find, through Hot Rod maybe? I took pause when I read the "bespoke alloy body variant" part, and knew that sucker was going to be big bucks. edit: anyone else nerding out like me about powerfully esoteric one-off exotics like this, the sotheby's write-up is porn-worthy. https://www.rmsothebys.com/ff17/ferrari--leggenda-e-passione/lots/1969-ferrari-365-gtb-4-daytona-berlinetta-alloy-by-scaglietti/1704895 edit2: i love the unadulterated nature of the 'find' pics. Yeah im talking about the wind tunnel model. And on that front just buy a retired f1 car or something if you are spending that much on a display. In fact i think that would be a lot cheaper.

There is a guy that has rebuilt two but a lot of the parts are too expensive so its got regular disc brakes and whatnot. Hes not rich either he did this in a shed in his backyard. http://www.roadandtrack.com/motorsports/news/a29975/this-man-is-restoring-caterhams-failed-f1-car-in-his-shed/ Not sure how he got the honda. He snagged the caterham after they imploded. I think some are backups that never get used and are turned into promotion tools at dealerships and eventually get sold off when the dealership goes belly up or whatever.

I'm planning a trip to Japan in late October-early November and I remember someone in this thread talking about renting a car near Mt. Fuji and getting a guided tour/drive around that area. Can anyone point me in the right direction to do this? I recall the poster saying that the company had some higher end cars (Honda NSX, FD RX7, etc.), but that the AE86 Corolla, for example was pretty affordable and fun.

Theres nothing around Mt fuji though, it's in the middle of a giant plain. You wanna head north into the Japan alps toward matsumoto and nagano if you want cool roads to drive on
