But Amazon loves socialist policies. Just watch them negotiate with some poor city into developing land and infrastructure and tax waivers for them.

It makes it easier to leave an area if you have offices already set up in other states. RE: what Boeing is doing right now with its Washington footprint.

I'm not sure what we're missing out on if they don't continue to grow like they have. The tax base isn't going towards managing any of our problems.

I wouldn't really be surprised.

Eugene spent a shitload of money in tax breaks and other incentives to get Sony to bring a disc manufacturing plant here and it lasted for maybe 5 or 10 years. It's common practice for a company to move where the best incentives are and then once they've squeezed all they can out of it they simply move on to a new place with new incentives.

I definitely get that, but have there been any direct signs so far that that's what they're right now? Or would it be more of a "keep future options open" thing?

And can any of these people even say what these socialist policies even are?

I haven't seen any indication that Amazon wants to leave Seattle. From what it looks like, Amazon realizes they've hit max capacity here and wants to expand elsewhere. Which I think is fine because Amazon's growth has severely hosed the area up, and anymore was unsustainable.

I don't know that I'd go as far as them having "severely hosed the area up," but yeah, I'd like them to stay about where they are for the moment, if only because so much of our economy is dependent on them, and I'd like to see us diversify a bit.

Yeah, Seattle's economy heavily relies on them now, but they sure as gently caress contributed to ruining the housing market, as well as gentrification of Cap Hill.

Seattle has Starbucks, Boeing, Amazon, Nordstrom, and Microsoft, plus all the software companies hanging out in Bellevue. If one of them left, short term it would hurt but I imagine another company would swoop in on the potential talent eventually. And maybe houses would be affordable in the short term :v:

While they're only the fourth-largest employer in King County, Amazon has 20% of the city's office space. It has as much office space as the next 40 largest (by office space) employers in Seattle combined. It would be a pretty big loving hit.

I don't think speculators/investors absorb nearly as much of the blame for the housing crisis as they deserve (and no, I'm not talking just about foreign investors).

"You're gunna break it!"

Microsoft being down the road leaves a little too much cross pollination potential, Seattle would need all the major software companies to leave to go full Detroit and there's other stuff developing as well. Don't forget Valve and Nintendo of America are around too.

Amazon's not going anywhere you ninnies. They've just run out of easily developable land in the downtown campus/SLU/Denny Triangle area (that hasn't already been snorked up for pre-permit work by other developers I mean look at this poo poo https://www.seattleinprogress.com/) and costs are skyrocketing for new buildings. They probably looked at doing another Rufus 2.0-size expansion and realized it would be impossible here.

pathetic little tramp posted:

Alright, a little background, as the title mentions, I live in a suburb in Washington. What really started this issue in earnest for me was about a week and a half ago when someone who lives a few blocks from me in my neighborhood decided to have a large Nazi flag painted on the entirety garage door, the black, white, and red kind. I know it sounds really quite absurd, and it is, and I'd be willing to provide pictures. It's very clear what it is supposed to be, even though it seems to be professionally done, obviously it is still very offensive, and sticks out every time I drive past it on my way home from work.

This is not the first time I've noticed people putting up, "Decorations" that I was lead to understand the HOA would obviously not allow. Neo Nazis have been trickling into the Pacific Northwest, including Washington for years now. Mainly they've stuck to the rural areas and steered clear of everywhere else, but now they've been trickling into my area as well. I know of a few other instances of decorations, and I know of other Nazi fucks in the area.

I have reviewed the CC&R and as I suspected, something like this would have to be approved, otherwise it would be unauthorized and would provoke recurring fines and such. I was skeptical that Mr. Hitler and his buddies bothered to get it approved. I tried to go through the normal channels, but it ended up that I had to not only call the office of the HOA, but also request a meeting with their board of directors. I made it clear that I wanted an explanation on the mural, and other things I saw. I made sure to document it with dates, pictures, citations, etc.

Long story short, it turns out they actually did get their, "Treatments" approved by the Homeowner's Assoc. and therefore it is technically compliant with covenants. What followed was a somewhat passive aggressive rest of the meeting towards me, insisting that I let the matter go and that they were nice enough to take time off their day and so on and so forth. Obviously I won't get any help from them.
What other options do I have? Obviously this is the kind of situation HOAs are meant to remedy, and if they're not doing their job, that means property values are only going to plummet, and this whole place is going to look like Wolfenstein: The New Order soon. I'm open to any suggestions or information you can give me.

I'm sure a few teenagers if provided some spray paint and 20 bucks would be more than happy to solve this issue.

Edit: Or even better, I would have told the HOA that the local news would LOVE a story on them approving a literal nazi flag.
