I got the phone in December 2015, and got it replaced twice with a refurb due to bootloop in (April 2017 and August 2017) They do a hard credit pull for that. I might be looking at houses in the next six months. Not a huge deal, but something to be aware of.

Glass of Milk posted:I chatted online with Fi today about my replacement 6p's reboot issue and they're sending me a Pixel XL 32 gb (same as my 6p) replacement. So they must have some of those available still. Maybe it was because the replacement still was under warranty. I still haven't heard back about my pixel replacement that never shipped. They gave me a direct email to a support person who I sent a message to yesterday but haven't heard anything back from them yet. I need to replace this phone.

Email seems useless- I emailed about the recurrence of the issue on Tuesday but never got a response. I've always had good luck with the chat.

Chat sessions tend to end in "A specialist will have to email you" which then never happens.

Man the Moto x4 is real ugly. The $115+$50 credit off for my 5x seems like a good deal to pass up tho. Anyone know when they get released?

I have a 5X that is in great shape and never boot-looped, just pondering whether the upgrade is a worthwhile deal.

I had a 5X that worked well, never bootlooped, and then just a small amount of time after it went out of warranty it turned off forever. No bootloader access, no screen power, nothing. Just 100% bricked. I'd do the deal if I was still holding on to a 5x at this point.

Well, I'm over 48 hours since I was told it would be 24-48 hours before they had an answer for me. Hit up support on chat again and they just told me that whenever there was an update they'd send me an email. I just want to get rid of this loving 6p. It's even more spotty than usual on whether or not it will receive calls or give me notifications.

It sounds like it's in purgatory somewhere. I already got notification that the new device had shipped and will arrive tomorrow.

Given the trade-in value on an unreliable phone, I'm going to roll the dice on Motorola having put together a good product. They did good with the Moto X and Moto G, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

It just sucks you can't get anyone to give you an update. I'd almost suggest having them cancel and reorder the replacement in case it got hung up somewhere. Mine is on the FedEx truck to my house, just a little over 24h since I put in the call to try and get one, so it seems like it should be possible.

If I do the trade in for the X4 do I have to also join Project Fi or can I just use the phone like a regular unlock phone on T Mobile?

Still haven't heard poo poo about my replacement phone. Gonna ask if getting a different color or something will help. My phone also fell out of my pocket this morning while getting out of my car. It hit a pebble right on the edge which of course caused the screen to crack. At least it wasn't the brand new phone that may or may not exist?

I emailed the rep again but don't expect a timely answer. Well, we're at least in the same miserable boat. Was authorized a replacement Pixel XL on Sept 5, printed out the RMA and waited to receive the device on Sept 8. It never came, and order status eventually changed to "Cancelled." Well, I sure didn't do that. Called back, got a second order and RMA, order was cancelled on me about an hour later. Called again, third order and RMA, order cancelled on me again. Now in order/shipment limbo as they try to figure out some issue. Being in Houston likely didn't help, as I eventually received an email saying at least my first order was cancelled due to Hurricane Harvey. Which makes a little sense if I had simply ordered a device from the store, but I wasn't buying a phone, it's a replacement phone. Project Fi, Sept 22, 2017 posted:Thank you for contacting Project Fi. My name is XXXX and I'm here to help. I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with this issue while trying to get your replacement device. At this point I'd be a little surprised if it ever comes, but currently in "not sure if I should buy a phone or one is coming my way" limbo.

Is anyone here suffering from this issue? It started for me this morning and I thought it was the person I tried calling until tonight when I called a couple of other people and heard a recorded message say, "We are unable to complete your call at this time. Please try again later". Until it's fixed it looks like I'm stuck forcing T-Mobile, huh?

Is it cheaper now to just add my wife to my plan and get an extra parcel of data,or should she set up her own poo poo? She's going to get the new Moto phone and I'm doing the trade in, not that it really matters, I guess.

They have a group plan that's $5 off the normal monthly cost, so you'll save a tiny bit.

Trade in on the standard Pixel is $350 which is how much you owe on it if you've been doing monthly payments since last year. So you just roll that into a Pixel 2 for roughly the same monthly payment, interesting.

I'm really digging the pixel xl. The size is better than the 6p and it feels better too. They told me a color change wasn't an option since it had been ordered but my silver phone arrived as a black one.

I'm barely noticing a difference but it really is nice for my phone to still be on when the battery is at 2% instead of rushing for my battery pack at 15%.

I had a great experience with Fi today. A friend got a replacement Pixel XL from Fi and decided to sell it. They were assured by support that the purchaser would be able to purchase device protection through Fi. I bought the phone and we both got the run-around from support for two hours until eventually they admitted that we had been lied to earlier and I can't purchase protection on the XL.

This thread probably knows of this trick already but thought I'd share anyways: I received my Pixel XL replacement for my 6p early last month. Even though I had a Google play subscription I was determined to get the 3 free months that came with the phone. I cancelled my current subscription, waited for the bill period to end, and when I went to reactivate the subscription through the app I was able to get the free trial. No payments until January!

http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/10/04/pixel-2-pixel-2-xl-will-support-esim-nanosim/ So the new Pixel 2s have eSIM cards in them. You can just log in and it'll automatically provision it with your number and data.... supposedly.

Anyone been having more issues than usual sending text messages to iphones? I use Textra on a Pixel XL with Fi, and lately I've been having an absolute ton of "failed to send" messages, I think it is only happening to people on iphones but I can't be sure. I love Fi's prices and simplicity but there have been a lot of signal and text message issues for me lately.

Texts have been a-ok for me, but I use Pulse fwiw. Have you looked to see if it's an issue related to a specific carrier? In other news, I confirmed with Fi Support that a trade in towards a Pixel 2 doesn't need to be sent to Google until after the Pixel 2 is released (for those interested in pre-orders). Pixels are valued around $400, so the few of you who were lucky enough to score a Pixel as a replacement could flip it right back to Google for a pretty steep discount on a Pixel 2...
