You can get a 4 bedroom newly constructed house in a really nice part of town for $1500/mo here. And our minimum wage is $9/hr. Our minimum wage is $7.25, and you can't get ANY kind of new house in this area for under $150k (if you go WAY THE gently caress OUT to the sticks). 4 bedroom? $300k+, not quite as far out in the sticks. If you manage to find a new construction house in Dallas or any first ring suburbs, you're looking at more (except for the lovely suburbs, like the one I'm in.. brand new stuff is more like $200k for a starter house where I am). Even really lovely apartments start around $600 in areas that gunfire is a regular thing. Mine's moderately lovely and runs about $800 (though it's a fairly big 1 bedroom). There's a really really bad place right by work that goes for $825/mo, 600 sq ft, no ac (I think they're grandfathered, the place is old enough to have been around before Dallas required AC in rentals), all bills paid, window units allowed.

14 my package for you (hurr) is out for delivery. I taped it up pretty good but it probably shouldn't sit in the rain for an extended period of time, presumably the address you're at has a dry porch or something because it ain't gonna fit in a mailbox Leperflesh fucked around with this message at 19:20 on Sep 25, 2017 |

Mr. Nice! posted:my great grandmother when she was still alive would break the filters off of camel wides and smoke em that way. Reminds me of Audrey Hepburn breaking the filter tips off Winstons in Charade, "Like smoking through a veil". Me, I love me some Chesterfield, but they're hard to find, along with most other non-filter King Size cigarettes. Pall Mall are no good, they're like smoking filter-tips with all the downsides of plains, plus they're not know for being plains, so instead of being known as a hardass who smokes non-filters you're seen as a cheapass who smokes Pall Mall.

Oil/gas/coal was originally biomass that mas made from atmospheric CO2, but that mass has been buried underground for millions of years and hasn't been participating in the carbon cycle. So when you dig it up and burn it, you're adding CO2 to the atmosphere that on human scales wasn't there before. Wood is made from CO2 that was harvested generally within the last century, so there's no net increase in CO2.

You know the reason I know there has to be a god, it's because I spent 5.99 on one of those Ultra Super Fly Trap things with scented fluid bait and hung it in the camper and after 3 days not one single fly has entered the Trap However knock into it with your head and spill the scented bait all over your face, though

Tracking hasn't changed, it still says "The item is currently in transit to the destination." Perhaps the mailman in north platte is waiting for a bus.

oh poo poo yeah, gently caress. Better see if stop delivery was set for that address, if it's vacant you usually do that to avoid piles of junk mail on the porch

Not sure how the balance of "small town" vs "automated system that stops the mail before it gets to the carrier" works, but maybe "In the camper next to [djdanno's address]" would provide a little delivery insurance.

Pollution concerns from wood burning mainly come from the particulates released during combustion but in the era of catalytic and other super efficient stove designs this is becoming less of an issue, except in highly populated areas.
