At least Niles starts bleeding from his face whenever he lies or feels conflicted. Just like a normal person.

There are literally zero physical therapists that would take the kind of poo poo that is thrown at Daphne Like, their starting wage is in the 70s to work at a local practice, to have an experienced one literally on retainer and making you meals would be absurdly expensive, if they'd put up with it at all

Solice Kirsk posted:I liked Mel too. She wasn't like Maris. She cared about Niles and was no where near as snippy as everyone else in the show, but they all aced like she was this horrible garbage monster because she suggested that Niles could be cork master (a stupid thing to begin with). Even the episode the used to establish she was a bitch they just skipped over everything and just had the main cast tear into her after the time skip. you've said this a few times in this thread and it's just so boneheadedly stupidly wrong it's amazing mel is, literally from the first scene she's introduced in, a condescending control freak who browbeats niles into getting unnecessary cosmetic surgery. she didn't give two shits about niles, she cared about his status, hence the whole toastmaster thing. she has zero redeeming qualities and the fact that she's the victim of the rest of the cast being lovely to her doesn't magically make her a good person.

food court bailiff posted:you've said this a few times in this thread and it's just so boneheadedly stupidly wrong it's amazing Remember that speech she told Daphne about wanting to be that special person for Niles and how he could be anything he wanted if he just had someone he could trust? Or how she turned down $1mil dollars from Maris to stop seeing him? Sure she was stuck up, but no more than the rest of the cast. The only difference is that they didn't tell the audience to laugh when she asked Daphne to answer the door or get coffee. Maris was a horrible monster to Niles, Mel was an upgrade, and the fact that she didn't have Daphne's relatives meant she was a net positive to the show. She was already a higher status than him, so qualm is not really true. And Niles is the idiot that decided that cosmetic surgery was the best way to ask a woman out, not her. She didn't browbeat him into anything. The only real sticking point is the cork master thing, and that's literally getting mad at her for wanting something good for her significant other. And she went on to become a wise crackin' coroner in South Dakota. edit: Not to mention once they got rid of her they had to morph Niles and Daphne into these weird idiots in order to make their relationship work. The show would have been better if it ended with Daphne marrying Donny and both of them realizing that their fantasy crush was just a fantasy. As someone who is watching this for the first time, it's kind of amazing how the show attempts to contort itself to make Niles/Daph look like not terrible people for what they did. Season 8 is a serious dip in quality for the existence that dynamic alone, besides the ham-handedness of it all

Martin: back in 52, there was no place like Frisco for a single guy cruising the streets looking for a good time. Frasier: I think you’ll find Frisco hasn’t changed all that much.

How wealthy was Frasier that he was out of a job for months, kept up his lavish lifestyle and still managed to lend Roz money like it was no thing (Also $1500 was apparently enough to tide Roz over for three months)
