Enslaved's 'E' is out. edit: There's some crazy prog experimentation on this album. Probably more than they've ever done. There's a saxophone on one track. sticklefifer fucked around with this message at 07:34 on Oct 13, 2017 |

I look forward to checking that out, sax is generally welcome for me. Saw Enslaved a few years ago with Amon Amarth, was good. Electric Six rocks live but they don't bring a sax guy for Danger High Voltage, would be icing on the cake I say.Kilometers Davis posted:I forgot about the Immolation album released earlier this year. I'd say go for White Line Fever if picking one, but there may be room for two Lemmy books on your shelf. They compliment each other well, and there's plenty more than 300 pages of great Lemmy material to be had. Mick Wall's is a harder angle and more "behind the music", while very informative and comprehensive. And does have a lot of great Lemmy quotes. Lemmy's autobiography is more bang for your Lemmy buck though, a bit more laidback, and well more Lemmy. I dig both books but if I gotta vote for the one, White Line Fever.

The production is what I noticed coming back to it. It’s not the best Immolation album ever but the production they have on it fits so well. Warm and punchy. It’s a shame more death metal bands don’t go for something similar. Heavy Metal posted:That is a tough question. I think a direct dose of Lemmy is what I want so I’ll grab that one sometime and keep the other in my amazon wishlist for later reading.

Silence in the Snow was basically a power metal album and was polarizing. Their new one is shaping up to be decent. e:vvv see what i mean

Heavy Metal posted:Any other good rock books or biographies? Or could be any music genre, just being metal or offbeat in some way makes for interesting stories. Devin Townsend - Only Half There It's a really good, humorous, and oddly inspiring/uplifting read. If you have the $$s splurge for the hard cover, it is one of the most beautiful looking and feeling books I've ever read. The cover is semi-transparent, and so are all of the pages of the book and feel like silk ("Only Half There" get it?). I think it would be enjoyable for anyone to read, he does part biography and part music business and has lots of anecdotes peppered in.

Also someone being upset about Trivium is kinda hilarious, cause they are so non offensive. Good stuff to have in the background. I kinda liked Silence, and your list matches mine. In the vein of going back to their roots, the singer from At The Gates is old school Swedish death in The Lurking Fear. And two former members from In Flames are doing the same now in Cyhra.
