"Ever since I was 8 or 9" is the opening lyrics to a famous Swedish pop song by the best band in the world, though the song got turned into a "Play Freebird" Meme and I can't stand the song.

For some reason it never occurred to me there would be different versions of that dumb joke in different countries.

It's "Play Paranoid" in Finland just for the record.

I hope Starbucks isn't your go to coffee shop in our fine southern land, when we have swathes of very good coffee shops thanks to the hordes of Greek and Italian migrants

This is quite the reversal, going directly from ramen sandwich praise to coffee snobbery.

If eating live animals is your bag, go for ikizukuri.

Nah, that one goes past what I'm okay with. The "living squid" thing is just a really recently dead squid that's still having muscle contractions. I've had live uni before, but I was assured it had absolutely no awareness so it wasn't like chowing down on a fish that's still gasping for air.

I'm looking more for super weird stuff, like that corn ice cream.

Go get one, they're fantastic! Actually, go to Shin-Okubo; I bet there are Korean cafés that will make a real one and those are yummy.

Corn ice cream is pretty nice and I recommend it. I always liked tea-flavored ice cream, too, like mugicha or genmaicha.
