I seriously don't get this phenomenon, in my city the canadian geese that come through are incredibly polite. my theory is their migration coincides with hunting season and they are just glad to have a little oasis where nobody is allowed to shoot at them, so they're very quiet and docile, going as far as to use crosswalks and wait for traffic

FYI a huge chunk of geese 'assholeishness' is based on whether they're nesting/raising gooselings or not. If it's that time of year for eggs geese will have no problem suicidally charging at predator animals, or on some occasions, running vehicles heading their way.

At my old job site, one of the geese tried to show it's dominance by attacking a guy in a wheelchair. Security guard calmly walked over, grabbed it by the neck, and dropped it in a median in the parking lot. It stayed there the rest of the day, completely cowed.

Related, I once popped the goalie's water bottle with a hard wrist shot and broke the cap in half on it. He had it full of red gatorade, and it went everywhere. It looked gruesome as hell. I've also seen someone get cut with a skate blade, but happily not their carotid or jugular. It was bad enough as it was. My English teacher freshman year of high school was an interesting character, super intelligent and a nice guy, but talked with a very odd monotone voice that did not seem to fit him. Found out later that he used to be a hockey player and took a skate across the neck somehow (story was someone skated over him, but not sure of the validity of that), I did end up seeing the scar at some point, and yeahh ouch.
