The building height restrictions in the core are bullshit, and drive up the cost of real estate. We should do away with them, and while we are at it open up inner SE for high rise apartments to alleviate some of the housing shortage. Perhaps the city could actually build some public housing while they are at it. Milwaukie has a housing project that is almost entirely single-level duplexes with lots of lawn space. If they went through and put high rise in their places we could house a lot more people.
