Marlette leans right far enough that he would fall over if he didn't occasionally have a good opinion propping him up.

Marlette strikes me as someone who doesn't want to hurt any feelings so he sticks to the line of "all politicians are bad" because he thinks that's what most Americans agree with. He won't ever take a striking or risky opinion like Bagley, Bennett or Priggee would.

I seem to remember he supported Hillary over Bernie in the primary but then switched over to "both sides are bad" after Hillary got the nomination

Also, he's responsible for this travesty:

So yeah, Marlette's a milquetoast centrist who tends to agree more with Democrats if only because Republicans are much further from the political center.

Border security? Did they pass something while I wasn't paying attention? Is there a report about illegal crossings being down? I can at least see where the others came from but the only border-related thing I've heard of lately was the start of the wall prototyping which, you know, doesn't actually do anything yet.
Border patrol is likely to get hit by billion-dollar automatic cuts thanks to the new deficit from the tax bill, so it's a real head-scratcher.

There's some scientists that apparently said they wanted to recreate the mammoth. IIRC the reasoning was to combat global warming which I guess is what the scenic view is all about.

I get when cartoonists step on each others' toes doing the Most Obvious Joke when the news first breaks. The market really sucks and you have to worry more about getting your cartoon out while the papers still find the issue relevant, and the quality of your cartoon comes second to being the first. It doesn't make the cartoons good by any means, but I sympathize with the struggle of a freelance artist.

What I don't get is cartoonist who put out the same loving joke weeks after its already been thoroughly run into the ground. I've now seen countless cartoons where Republicans are happy about their tithe to the rich tax cuts whereas a donkey or Pelosi goes "Humbug!" Ramirez did a loving "Young girl/Mall Santa and sexual assault" cartoon even though they were running those before December. So you have weeks to come up with your own original joke. The luxury to just sit on your rear end and think of a good metaphor or witty commentary, and you just...do what everyone else did.

Two Pulitzers.
