That it's possible to flip districts like this is great for Democrats, but there's no need to go crazy. It's pretty loving crazy a district with Sarasota in it flipped. I grew up in Venice. Sarasota hired Laffer, that loving Laffer to consult for its development plan. It's not Trump country in the rural poo poo kicking + 50 sense. It's Trump country in the upper middle class, upper class, very white old person sense. It's an area with actual population too. It's a BFD deal. This is a place where "closet Democrats" was a phrase I heard growing up.

Ehhhh, I doubt there's a conspiracy, but they have been hiring awful right-wing fuckwads for a couple decades now, and they've gotten particularly bad over the past few years. I think that's more evidence of cowardice on the part of the bosses, though. As it turns out, hiring people like Bill Kristol, Ross Douthat, David Brooks, and Bret Stephens didn't cause the right to stop screaming "LIBERAL MEDIA! LIBERAL MEDIA!" like they hoped it would. I'm sure it will work for MSNBC though.

The treasurer says we have $1,000,000 on hand, but for now I’m just gonna donate a measly $250,000 to you. Now I’m not telling you how to spend the money, but just know that I have an additional $750,000 in the bank and everybody loves puppies and I project being able to collect another $10,000,000 from puppy lovers around the world who support giving everyone a puppy. Imagine all the puppies you could get with this money. We could even use “some” of it to advertise on TV that you’ll buy everyone a puppy if they vote for you.
