Q is a relentless parade of self owns, but my favourite one is the password. For the first few months, this top-level clearance, covert intelligence mastermind relied on a password-generated tripcode on 4chan to get his info out and verify that it was only coming from him. Obviously this password was a closely guarded secret, tremendously well-secured, probably 500 characters long and secure against any possible dictionary attack. Right? Nope. The password was Matlock.

VitalSigns posted:Is that real, because I lose my car keys a lot and I thought I was just being dumb I dug into it for a minute, and apparently the more common TI issue is that "They" will gaslight you by breaking into your house and stealing or hiding small items... including car keys. So it's less that you need a tinfoil hat and more that you need to change your locks. Gangstalking or "Targeted Individual" stuff is hilarious and tremendously sad at the same time, because 99.999999% of the time it's serious mental illness. But it's hard not to be morbidly amused when TI folks have such a strong online community: It's got to really, really suck for the tiny number of people who actually are being hosed with my some shadowy government agency (their own or other), because on the off-chance someone is applying Stasi techniques to you, you are going to pretty much sound like a lunatic for bringing it up. TI people are *obsessed* with the East German Stasi, because it's one of the few times in history that reality at least vaguely resembled paranoid ramblings. That said, most Stasi victims presumably knew they would be a potential target, due to their political activities or whatnot. Whereas it's way harder to explain why an enormous covert bureaucracy would be spending hundreds of man-hours per year and devoting top-tier high tech equipment to harass a middle-aged housewife in a small town in Ohio.

I was going to do another Freep on Weed, but the only quasi-interesting threads about it are about that "Cannabis Candidate" for congress in Illinois with the campaign ad where he smokes weed while holding an AR15 in front of a US flag, and apparently now it turns up that he wasn't actually an FBI *agent* like he said and has a history of abusing women. That said, I did find these keywords revealing in a thread about opiates: West Virginia’s Patrick Morrisey Claims Victory in Fight Against Opioid Supply KEYWORDS: dopefiends; gateway; junkies; marijuana; morrisey; opoids; ussenate; wv Note they spelled "opioids" wrong, listed marijuana despite neither the article nor the thread mentioning weed, and consider "dopefiends" and "junkies" to be some wise tags.

Freep has been talking about weed less these days because, other than Vermont, nothing huge has changed recently, and the Chicken-Littling about Colorado has died down since the sky hasn't fallen. Though, all things being equal, when they *do* have a weed thread there is an ever-increasing number of Freepers saying "gently caress off, weed is great for my arthritis pains, leave it alone!" Like when there was a short thread about Las Vegas installing drop-boxes at the airport so you could dispose of any forgotten weed before leaving the state, half the thread was all "so... need any help emptying that box LOL!" I haven't gone into the Freep Vaults to look at pre-2012 threads, but I'm pretty drat sure that this is a substantial change over the last six years. Yeah, DuckDuckGo is mostly focused on privacy, breaking out of the 'filter bubble' of the big search engines that preferentially serve you the content that they think you'll like based on past preferences (something that Freepers might benefit from), and also pitched itself at education, where there may be a legal responsibility with the school for how outside entities collect data on children. Some schools seem more likely to block DDG and default to Google than embrace it for better compliance with data protection though.
