So I’m tempted to try it on my MacBook as well, but that nearly burns itself when playing shadowrun already, but then again I need to do something in meetings at work.

Has anyone tried this on a MacBook Pro?

Wolverine is faster, does more melee/DFA damage, and can hold an additional jump jet.

This game really needs a hardcore mode. My favourite moments have been in the early game when you need to scrape together a lance of your backup locust, a commando and whatever functional mediums you have running just so you can make enough money to pay the rent. Once you're rocking heavies and put a lot of upgrades into your drop ship a lot of that early game tension dissipates.

Agreed, I haven't had to reload a save yet and I know fuckall about battletech or good robot builds. The mid/late game is just you steamrolling everything with 4 heavies/assaults forever, which does get old after a while. The game is at its best when you're still fielding lights and mediums imo, but they have no place in a sea of 4/5 skulls missions.

what the gently caress why is this a thing. I about crapped myself. Never been more glad that I fought against every strain of common sense and didn't put my sensor commander in a heavy. Found this guy by leap frogging up that mountain on the left.

There were two of these on the map. And nothing else. At least I didn't max out salvage.

Yeah I'm currently tackling a four-star Battle mission with immediate reinforcements the second battle begins (I hope this poo poo is a bug and I hope they fix it). Two Shreks and two...Manticores I think? Single PPC plus some missiles. Initial opponents are a heavy lance, Jagermech, Black Knight, two Thunderbolts. Seeing nine PPCs come out of the fog of war is fuckin terrifying, thank god I got lucky on misses with that opening salvo. To get at the Shreks I'd have to go through the entire enemy lance and the Manticores. I've currently got a mixed lance with three Thunderbolts and a Highlander. I figure my best bet is a fighting retreat using a line of hills along the map border to split the mechs off from the vehicles. Luckily I've got the LRM advantage and a spotter in one of the Tbolts but man this is going to be a long mission. I think it would be straight up impossible if all my mechs didn't have jets, being able to instantly break LOS and kite vehicles (which can't deal with elevation at all) is the only thing that is saving me.

I wonder if Lights would be more useful later on if Evasion was based not only on the defending mech's movement, but on the attacker's weight class. That is, if lights had an easier time hitting other lights while heavier mechs had an additional penalty to simulate cumbersome/clumsy arm movement/tracking

Go left at the beginning and take out the trucks, and by the time you're done the enemies will have funneled themselves into the blast radius of an explosive barrel. You get 2 freebies before you start failing bonus objectives. The turrets only have 97 hitpoints so you can take out both lrm turrets in one round.

Edit: It's weird that 2 srm4's produce 4 less heat than a srm2 and a srm 6.

Here are my issues with the game's graphics and UI. These are all non-bug issues, so I'm not complaining about day one problems, but rather design choices made by the developers that I'd hope to see improved in a future release.

1. Important units and buildings do not pop enough against the environment. Finding a light mech in heavy cover can be a bit like playing a pixel search game.

2. There's just not enough contrast in general in the textures.

3. You cannot zoom out far enough to get an all inclusive picture of your local area of the battlefield.

4. You don't have a radar or minimap to help with navigation or situational awareness.

5. I'm only on the first play through, but the first three tutorial/story missions were pretty damned long, and I don't recall seeing a way to skip them.

With that said, I finally have the Argo and the game has opened up and I'm really enjoying the gameplay loop. Fight fools, kill fools, take some of their stuff, parlay that into better stuff so you can fight fools harder.

Can't help with most of these, but for 5 I stole this from someone else here:

Go to steamapps\common\BATTLETECH\BattleTech_Data\StreamingAssets\data\milestones\milestone_003_title_coronation_palace.json (back it up first!), open it in Notepad or Notepad++ or whatever you have, change "value" in RESULTS section to 114. You'll jump straight to after the Desert mission (you'll lose xp from not doing the other missions, I think, but meh). Changing to to 105 jumps to before that mission, if you want to play it (remember that you get no cash/salvage for it).

I tested it and the 114 one works.

Does anyone have any tips for convoy ambush missions? Engaging both the convoy and the guards at the same time means I'm taking twice as many missiles as I do in most other missions and getting them before they escape doesn't give me much time to play conservatively.

I just resisted the urge to reload after having a tasty assault assassination target do the "lol I'm out scrubs" thing and instantly evacuate while I was trying to get a pilot kill. It was only a lovely zeus so whatever, I need to make a mental note to always leg them first so they can't run away so fast.

Honestly if are able you should zerg the story missions as fast as you possibly can, at least up to raising the dead, since you get a free amazing mech from completing that mission, you don't even use your own MWs or mechs to fight it, and you also get 3 assaults guaranteed to try and get pilot kills on so potentially you can get 2 assaults from a single mission

Ideally, get between the convoy and it's exit point, then stomp the vehicles once they get within melee range. Failing that, you'll just have to suck it up and ignore the guards until the convoy is dead.
