Jon Ryan was not good last year. Hurts me to say it, but they needed to move on. Maybe not in the fifth, but whatever who cares.

So far Seattle's OL draft consists of: a tight end, and nothing else. I'm sure this punter was a priority because they are going to be punting a lot.

I love the pick, the Rams can coach him up for a year or two and then he could step in for Whitworth. Very forward thinking.

Clearly they are terrified of the 49ers' special teams heavy draft.

They finally drafted one, and they've gone a full 180 since dumping Cable:

As long as they give him help on passing downs, McGlinchy's fine, I just hope for something better than "mediocre tackle" as a top 10 pick. Like with Solomon Thomas last year, I'm more angry at Lynch for a bad pick than I think the player is awful.

With a couple exceptions, this whole draft class is just weird and not impressive.

Let the burning of pants commence. These things drive me nuts.

I don’t see what’s so wrong about the Hawks trading up to draft a punter. Dude was probably the best one on the board and they gave up a 7th rounder, which is essentially worthless. Packers and Raiders also chose punters not that much later.

They’ll also definitely need a punter after running on the first two downs and not converting on the third and long. They also save $2M by cutting Ryan.

I, too, think making a punter a priority shows great forethought and understanding on the part of their scouting department.

The mcglinchey pick looks a lot better now considering how many teams reached incredibly hard for a tackle. I still think it was too early for him as a player but he would've been gone shortly after anyways. They got the best tackle in the draft and at the end of the day of you don't have decent (at least) tackle play you will not win games.

I was excited for a splashy defensive pick but it's not bad after seeing all the other picks

I'm actually really happy with the Seahawks draft you guys

Like, they have too many holes right now to be in position for a playoff push, but this is the first time in a while that I've felt like they were building with a team model in mind rather than trying to patch over gaps in yesterday's squad.

There's a clear thread running through each pick and it's fun to see. Hope it works out well.

STOP DOING HEROIN
Punters are cool and good :colbert:

Jon Ryan was a secret weapon for years because of his ability to flip field position, and getting an Aussie Ryan clone would be pretty aces. I also don't care that much about just one O-lineman. Maybe some of these losers will be less bad with Cable gone.

The real disappointment is not addressing WR at all. A 30-year-old Doug Baldwin, post-leg-explosion Tyler Lockett, and a pile of JAGs behind them is ... not inspiring.

Cards killed it with the Rosen pick alone. Even if none of their other picks pan out (and they mostly won't), they get a top grade just for getting the best QB in the draft at 10.

The thing that really worries me is the o line. Both Bradford and rose don't exactly thrive under pressure, and of course they both have a history of injuries too. The best case scenario for the cards next year is if Bradford is actually able to finish the season and then they can get to work on that line. I just really don't want to see Rosen injured again and all that potential lost

they looked serviceable at the end of the year but i think the big question mark is going to be coaching and schemes. palmer took a lot of hits by running scat protection and floating the ball to DJ before he got hit, and the o line never lived up to its billing with veldheer on the team.
