The gunnery skills really start to drop off late game. Mulishot is much less important because heavies/assaults have less evasion and are easier to hit, plus you really need to be focusing fire. Breaching shot suffers the same issue in that you’re better off focusing all firepower on someone who’s not in cover/braced and since you’re always outnumbered, it’s not hard to find a valid target. What I’m saying is I regret having 3 2 gun/1 guts warriors now and wish I’d made at least one of them 2 tax/1 guts

Counterpoint: multi-shot + breaching shot + LRMs on fools you want to knock over while the rest of your weapons focus on already downed or near-death mechs.

Yes but breaching shot ignores covered and guarded, but doesn’t mention ignoring entrenched which is the stability buff. I wonder if it ignores that as well.

Just finished the campaign. It’s a good start but I hope we get more multi mission missions. Like. I want one mission I can only send lights on (or a tonnage limit) which will give me an advantage in the next main fight or something like that. And I want more smaller campaigns. Anyway this game has potential and I love it as much as battle brothers. Hopefully lots of expansions and mods will make it a game that lasts.

Finished the game, rip all the bad dads and dead childs. I had a few mechs that have just flamer+ for cc weapons. It paid off beautifully in this mission. She managed to shoot at the start then got broiled into oblivion. Towards the end she got so mad that she shut herself down several times trying to shoot me.

Or, better yet, a whole Locust, though I don't believe that's ever been supported by any game or fictional element ever. I remember an old rule from TT that mechs with hands could only carry up to 10% their weight, so even an Atlas can only take half a Locust as a club. On the other hand, those weird 200t super-heavy mechs of later Battletech could theoretically wield an entire Locust. The ones with hands, at least. A super-heavy with TSM should even be able to dual-wield Locusts! Libluini fucked around with this message at 11:26 on May 5, 2018 |

Kinda curious how negative shooting modifier from movement like in the tabletop would affect gameplay. I'm pretty sure that has been in at some point during the development though, and that it being not there in the final version has a good reason. Up to -2 from movement based on evasion pips you get, or -3 from jump would pretty much be the way tabletech handles it, and is simple enough that I'm not surprised if some modder cooks it up at some point.

Well poo poo! What you're looking at is Glitch, dropped off by the dropship onto a rock that you need jumpjets to get off from, in a mech with no jumpjets (I reloaded and swapped mechs so a jump-capable mech dropped there)

Here is a Summoner from the same group of artists that has been doing MWO and beyond's redesigns:

As a long time Btech fan who never had anyone to play with and never knew anyone IRL who even really knew of the game, and who hated what Mechwarrior made of the franchise ...I'm in love. I suck at it because I'm bad at vidyas. And just dumb in general. Once I get more acquainted with "ok this does this then this happens yadda yadda" I won't be AS dad-like. But, oh, hell, yes, finally. The fact that they referenced the first jumpship and stuff even though only literally no one would get where they were going with that in the opening credits? ... ok. Sold.

I remember it being a thing with the Thunderbolt where the original record sheets had the missile launcher on the wrong torso compared to the art. Then the upgraded versions switched it around to match the art, but not the original because for whatever reason FASA really didn't like invalidating existing stuff when they could. And then the Reseen version came out which was based on the original record sheet layout. When the mini of that version came out it just had a separate cockpit piece so you could just put it on whatever side of the torso you preferred. Ran into my first grasshopper and very neatly disabled it with most systems in tact. And then killed all its allies. Only lost some B-team recruit on the mission, which I'm fine with, given that it was a 2-skull mission that ended up being a multiple-Heavy and a lance of very capable medium mech ambush on my lance.

CommissarMega posted:Jump Jets have priority before guns, mate I agree, jump jets for life. Mostly because they are the best way to reposition yourself, especially if you are trying to move backwards. I've been trying a system where I set up two mechs in a foward position with 2 mechs a short distance behind them. Then after the forward mechs have soaked a little damage, they jump over the back mechs who turn into the front mechs. Sort of a backwards game of leapfrog. Of course it doesn't always work because I've found that the AI can be particularly stubborn about going after a mech that is in bad shape. I've had enemy mechs run past a low evasion non guarded mech in excellent shape to take a long distance shot at a high evasion vilgilant mech who had a CT exposed. edit - like if I don't have to worry about the heat, I will use jump jets even to reposition myself 2 or 3 hexes simply because it will also add an extra evasion pip.

It's also worth remembering that the T-Bolt was actually one of the Unseen for a while, as it's based off the Ironfoot from Dougram: https://www.google.com/search?q=Dou...ih=1086#imgrc=_ However, the Dougram designs were a lot easier to bring back into the fold than the Macross designs. Hell, HBS BTech uses a ton of them (Shadowhawk, TBolt, Griffon, Wolverine, and the Battlemaster). So yes, the Thunderbolt has influenced a bunch of 'Mech designs over the years. A lot of (comparatively) newer 'Mechs are derived from riffing off of the old licensed designs and turning them into something that's part of the actual BattleTech property.

The left arm (its left, that is) is kind of derpy and it looks a bit unbalanced, but the OG Summoner is a perfectly fine design and fits in with the rest of the original 1990 Clan aesthetic well enough.

I'm keeping Dekker in this firestarter as long as I can until it kills him. Dekker never escapes Light Mech Hell. It got close; I hosed up and left him exposed because I forgot you can't move after meleeing with the Piloting Skill and they blew off his entire left side and most of his CT, but he managed to limp away behind a rock and hide.
