Here's one about what an idiot I am. I've told this story to some civilian friends, and they insisted there's no way it's true, nobody is that oblivious, but here I am. So it's 2001, back during Don't Ask Don't Tell and I'm at Goodfellow AFB in lovely San Angelo, West Texas, for training. One day I'm just hanging at a picnic table outside the barracks, and one guy I barely know, just seen around the barracks and in passing at DLI, comes up and says he's thinking to drive to the porn store just past the county line (dry, and apparently porn-dry county) and asks if I want to come with. I have nothing better to do so I hop in his truck. Shortly after we get driving, somehow he gets onto the topic of how some men are objectively kinda attractive. I'm trying to be congenial, so I just kinda nod along with as he elaborates that he doesn't mean some limp-wristed sissy, but like a buff masculine guy with no shirt and a leather jacket, even a guy has to admit that he can be hot. He manages to go on this vein of discussion for pretty much the whole 15 minute drive out. We go inside, make our purchases, and on the way out he very eagerly asks to see what's in my bag. I open it and I've got a couple issues of Naughty Neighbors or whatever, amateur chick stuff, and he looks kinda let down, says "oh, cool" and then says nothing else the whole ride home. Years later, I'm walking along when I suddenly smack my forehead and say "oh! *That's* what that was!" I am indeed that oblivious.
