Getting a match is basically “succeed unopposed at a reasonable task”, and it seems like if someone invests up to 8 (ignoring expert/master dice) then they should maybe not be rolling at all. It would be interesting to see a table with matches of different minimum heights and widths, because I think the power of outlier skill ranks is more relevant when attempting more outlandish feats. I don’t know how to compute it efficiently, though.

Excellent, thank you! It looks like when you get into width 3 having 8/9/10 makes a difference, and that it's a big zero before that. Playing with difficulty should let you challenge specialists without outright requiring that specialization, I think.

It's Devastation Remastered + Wanderers of Indines + something like 15 promos (which is mostly new ones, but includes previous secret/boss characters who've been rebalanced like Anath/Evil Hikaru), so a good 55 characters. More importantly, it's going to have the big storage box with tuckboxes (Unleashed) as an addon. (Also supposedly Unleashed is going to include further balance changes to War Remastered and Fate, which I'm really excited for.)

Look's like Sigmata's out Monday.quote:The PDF will be released on DriveThruRPG on Monday July 23rd, and the first thing we'll do once it is up is send download codes to everyone who backed the PDF and PDF Plus tiers. Make sure you're checking your spam folders on that day. The second course of action will be for Resistance HQ to review and approve print proofs so we can hopefully start shipping physical copies in August. Also a play example video that has some character sheets. I'm giving the backgrounds some serious side-eye, especially for a game that wants you to work with the groups it does... The systems shown look like kind of a bitch, too. Lots of 'd10s equal to stat plus d6's to make 5 dice, 6+ succeeds, 1's subtract successes' stuff. 1. "CisHet lesbian?" Like, "PCs will assume she's hetero but she's not," or like "the person who wrote this isn't 100% clear on what 'cishet' means and using it as synonymous for 'normal'?" I'm guessing the latter. 2. Jesus those loving font choices

Also jeeze, that backstory is disjointed. I'm sure there is a perfectly valid way to characterize a pot-smoking, porn-watching, D&D-playing single mom/lawyer/pinball ace who used to be in a cult and has sex with women...but it's not just by listing random facts of wildly varying importance.

For a tabletop roleplaying game where the only thing the rest of the group knows about your character is what you tell them, and they have to make assumptions accordingly? Not so much.

Are those surface and story traits in-game qualities or flavor text put down by the players because uh.... I can't decide if it'd be worse if it's baked into the rules or if they thought these would be excellent examples of freeform background making. Also won't like 90% of people be tagged as "cishet" on the surface unless they're the most ridiculous visible stereotypes of LGBTQ people ever?

Think Russia right now, or the US and Britain in the 50's. In places where being LGBT makes you a target for state-sanctioned oppression, everyone acts to pass as the social standard for their own safety. That tag seems pretty pointless. A response on it from 'ol Chaddy: quote:As explained in the video, surface is what most people see when they encounter the character. It is an uninformed opinion based on veneer and first impression. The way someone looks, they way they carry themselves. Story, on the other hand, is their real identity, a combination interests, desires, experiences, and turmoil. It continues to stand out that for a guy who claims some pretty liberal political aspirations, this guy really doesn't seem to have thought a lot of this stuff through very well.
