So speaking of airline hiring chat, I’m still happy with my gig but I’m curious what kind of airline gig could I shoot for with: 1800TT 1400 Jet 400 Jet PIC 3 type ratings Lots of 135 experience Am I still looking at licking boots at the regionals if I ever decided to jump to the dark side? I’ve been bored the last couple days and have been job hunting for no real reason.

Regional recruiters will knife fight each other for you. Another 500 hours and you can be comfortably competitive for anything except the majors and Southwest (unless you are a legacy and/or have military fixed wing time). I joined a flying club this week and now I get to fly the most adorable amazing lil' Skycatcher. G300, autopilot, $85/hr pretty much whenever I want, because out of the ~30 people in the club like 6 are actually actively flying, and they're mostly in the club's Citabria. Going from trying to squeeze in two hour rentals in summer flight school schedules to this is amazing, gonna build so much time now Also gonna get my tailwheel endorsement sometime soon with the CFI/club president because that Citabria looks like a blast too.

They are pretty popular (we sold 20k of my cases in the last year) not too shabby for something that started out as a simple GDL90 interpreter for Dump978. Stratux certainly connected me with an interesting group of people.

What is the least expensive floatplane you can get that can carry two people, preferably in an enclosed cabin, and is a real plane (not an inflatable dinghy on a hang glider etc)? Somewhere in my future I want to be able to fly low and slow over the islands on the Ottawa river and land on a secluded lake for lunch, and I want to figure out what I should be lusting after

Here’s the startup sequence of a PC12 https://instagram.com/p/BoKosJiliZC/ Add fuel at 15% NG, gen2 on once gen1 is below 100a, legitimately easier to start than a 172.

Former roommate just bought a Taylorcraft on floats for right around $30k with a bunch of spares. PA18 or PA11 would be another good option in that range.

You can find C152’s and PA12’s with floats. Another cheap option would be an older Lake. Cheap being a relative term because float planes are hot drat expensive for a half decent one. E: get a Maule on floats. They’re so kickass looking.

I hate to be that guy and play internet check pilot, but I hope you had a third hand on whatever lever cuts the fuel. When something goes wrong and the temp starts running away, that one heartbeat skip that it takes for "acceptance" to catch up and realize you need to abort the start, can take a loong time. I speak from experience, and in both cases I'm glad my hand was already on the lever.

Yes that’s why nothing happens in the video until the ITT stabilizes. You get the first ITT rollback, secondaries hit and you get a spike, then the second rollback, engine start is complete at that point.

We don't even have to add fuel and the FADEC will (in theroy) protect the engine from hot starts, no light off, no starter cut out, ect. The fuel injected 172s I learned to fly in were way harder to start. Especially on a cold morning.

Faster than a bigger airliner, but slower than a small turboprop*. The bigger the engine, the slower it accelerates for obvious reasons. Less obvious is that along with the slower acceleration the fuel controller increases the fuel slower, and consequently the temperature rises slower. That in turn lowers your blood pressure and decreases the rate at which your hair turns gray. * especially if it's a PT-6 or similar where the core accelerates independently from the prop. vessbot fucked around with this message at 03:11 on Sep 27, 2018 |

If you just cram the power forward faster than the prop governor can keep up on a PT6 you’re just an rear end in a top hat.

I’ve only had a FADEC run engine cut a start on me once, but it caught it on me way faster than I saw the spike. Anybody here in the NE US?
