He's done this multiple times and keeps changing his mind, so his case is definitely worse than hers (although med school is also more expensive than pilot school so eh)

Probably this is why she resents him so much for it, she sees in him what she's insecure about in herself. At the end of the day, though, what she wants is for him to support her while she pursues her dream instead of doing the same thing for himself, which is kinda dumb but would be fine if he was up for it. He's not though so they should probably just :sever:

I wouldn't blame that guy for forgiving his mom just so that he could have a family again (and she'd probably feel guilty enough that she'd do her best to repair the relationship between him and his sister again too) but I also wouldn't blame him for deciding that ship has sailed

It sounds like she's pulling at least her own weight, probably supporting both of them while he quits jobs. She didn't leave $70k just to go to school, she did it to get another job with promotions plural, in addition to going to med school full-time. It doesn't sound like she wants to slack, she just wants a partner who also pulls his own weight

Med school is more expensive, but doctors make good money right away to pay down the debt. Pilots earn poo poo right out of pilot school because veteran pilots take all of the hours and overtime while rookies get the minimum required.

Yeah she seems to be working full-time to avoid racking up student debt, which is a good move for her but isn't really "supporting both of them" as such, unless his dad is charging them rent, in which case why live with him

That also explains her comments about his student debt

Doctors don't make much at all to start and won't ever make much unless they go into very specific specialties

Yeah, but even if she took a pay cut to $50k or whatever, that would be more than enough to pay her own rent even if she lived in NYC. Free (presumably) rent is obviously a huge help, but she would be getting by alone, whereas when the guy quits jobs, he needs not just free housing but also like money to eat and exist with.

Sure, but it feels like his point was that it's a bit hypocritical to call him out on being indecisive and accuse him of switching jobs while expecting her to support him, even though she just switched jobs and moved in with his family

No. The vast vast majority of schools make you sign a waiver stating you will not work during school. At least during the first two years you might have a month or two during the summer to work.

Some people get around this by bartending or serving for cash under the table but they burn out quickly.
