You can sue anyone for anything. And you can count on the NRA and their slavering hordes to sue over any and all gun control laws.

Yeah, it's a shame we have so many more mental health issues than all those countries everywhere else that don't have anywhere near as many shootings.

Definitely the mental health issues that are the problem.

I don’t have guns and won’t have one in my home, just to be clear on my stance.

Gun violence (actually all violence) is on a downward trend, not because we’re increasing regulation heavily or enforcing laws more strictly. The fact is that violence, yes even gun violence, is less common than ever.

So why is there a big push to regulate guns in the general population more even though it’s not getting worse? Police steadily murder people every year, some years their violence even increases. Why aren’t we seeing more regulation with regards to law enforcement?

I think the point being made is that there are lots of other big problems, why are democrats going after one that’s getting smaller?

Personally, I wish there were gun nuts who were stockpiling to fight to protect people like me. Unfortunately the types to stockpile in this country have a problem with people like me. So I’ll probably vote to increase regulations but only because I’m afraid a “militia” is going to show up at my door one day if things keep going how they are.

Funny you mention dental care, given that you think water fluoridation is nothing more than a big loving joke.

But sure, it's totally within the realm of state and municipal governments to expand social security or reduce the size of the military. And yet no credit is given to our AG who actively fights this poo poo every chance he gets and is rather successful nor to the local politicians who are actively fighting and gaining ground for progressive causes.

This whole "I'm going to move the goalposts between different levels of government and competently different states, find the bad dem, then tar every dem the same way while ignoring the systemic damage being done by anyone with an R at the end of their name" is becoming incredibly tiring. Last year when I looked at the two candidates for mayor of Everett, both were progressives focused on housing the homeless, but no one gives a poo poo about that because Chuck Schumer said something loving dumb and has no power in the Senate as minority leader.

Maybe spend some loving time elevating those who are fighting the good fight instead of this nothing matters bullshit.

My biggest problem with gun control is when people start talking about criminalizing or penalizing ownership of guns. Especially 'liberals' or other people on the left. The second we start doing that who gets affected the most? Just like with anything else thats criminalized, like drugs, its going to affect brown people the most and joe blow fat white dude will still have thirty assault rifles in his basement that his kid can grab and go shoot up a school because his daddy beats him.

AG gets credit. The problem with even a firebrand Democratic legislator is that they vote for Frank Chopp for majority leader, and Frank Chopp is a useless loving centrist. This useless loving centrist then proceeds to set the agenda entirely; it doesn't really matter if you'd vote to expand Applecare into a full-fledged public option, if the only thing Frank Chopp brings up to vote is whether to completely gut ST, or just to mostly gut ST3.

1. Racist and sexist attitudes are also on a long-term downward trend, that doesn't mean doing something about oppressive systems is a bad idea.

2. US gun homicide rates are still abnormally high for a developed country.

Literally nobody is saying “nothing matters” but you, people are saying “Democrats are poo poo for reasons A, B, C, and D”, and have even given examples of what could be done better, who’s doing it, and ways to help, all of which would be better than what Democrats are offering. And “fighting the good fight?” Get the gently caress over this nonsense, it’s meaningless when the fighting is throwing some limp slaps in the middle of a knife fight.

Look, sometimes fighting the good fight means refusing to put addressing climate change on your party's platform. It's not that an impending ecological collapse isn't important, it's just that oil money is more important.
